A medium sized food manufacturer are looking for a Purchasing Manager. Your new company turns over £65m and produces food for major food brands. Role responsibilities of a Purchasing Manager Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with reliable suppliers and vendors for raw materials, packaging, and other goods required for production. Purchasing Strategy: Develop and implement effective purchasing strategies to ensure the company has timely access to high-quality materials at competitive prices. Inventory Management: Oversee the inventory of raw materials and packaging supplies, ensuring optimal stock levels to avoid production delays while minimizing overstock and waste. Contract Negotiation: Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers, ensuring favourable terms and cost savings for the company. Quality Control: Work closely with the technical team to ensure all purchased materials meet food safety standards and regulatory requirements. Forecasting & Budgeting: Collaborate with production and finance teams to forecast material needs based on production schedules, and maintain a budget for purchasing. Supply Chain Coordination: Ensure timely delivery of materials to avoid disruptions in production, and troubleshoot any supply chain issues that may arise. Compliance: Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policies, industry standards, and government regulations related to food safety, labelling, and sustainability. Reporting & Analysis: Prepare regular reports on purchasing activities, supplier performance, and cost savings for senior management. Team Leadership: Lead, train, and mentor the purchasing team, ensuring efficiency and continuous improvement in purchasing practices. Requirements of a Purchasing Manager: Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Food Science, or related field. (Or equivalent work experience) Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably in vegetables. Skills: Strong negotiation skills and contract management experience. Experience in dealing with seasonality in products. Knowledge of food safety regulations, quality standards, and sourcing strategies. Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and purchasing software. We are looking for 2 Maintenance engineers for this food manufacturing business, you ll play a key role in keeping the production lines running smoothly and safely. You ll support the day-to-day running of our equipment and contribute to continuous improvement across the site. The Multi Skilled Engineer will be hands-on with both mechanical and electrical tasks. Working as part of a large team with a variety of equipment there are growth opportunities both in skills and people management should you wish to persue these routes. Spending around 60% of your time abroad on customer sites commissioning and servicing our bespoke machinery both in the UK and world wide. The role requires a proactive logical thinker, working directly with the technical support team and production teams your role will be to commission newly installed machinery but to also assist with product improvements and. When not onsite, you will be assisting with technical support and testing equipment prior to dispatch at our head office in Peterborough. You will need to have a good understanding of control systems predominantly Siemens and Mitsubishi. The role as a Commissioning Engineer Commission and Service OEM Foundry Machinery equipment worldwide. Code & debug machinery during the install process where necessary Liaise with customers in a courteous and professional manner at all times, keeping them informed of you travel arrangements and requirements while on site. Complete the required report forms and acceptance protocols within an acceptable time after returning from site. Follow up on the submitted reports to ensure actions are understood and completed.
