We have an exciting opportunity for you to be part of our Apprentice programme, which is available across all of our main UK sites. About the Role You will be trained to calibrate and optimise a wide range of measuring instrumentation and learn to fault find and repair equipment You will be required to perform in accordance with our Quality System and Company Procedures that are internally & externally audited to ISO9001 and ISO17025 by BSI and UKAS. This 4 year programme will include: NVQ Level 3 & BTEC Diploma Level 3 (Level 7 Scotland) in Engineering Calibration Fundamentals In house training rotating across various calibration disciplines e.g. pressure, temperature, electrical, in UKAS accredited laboratories Personal development courses with external training provider Microsoft software packages Future Prospects Upon completion of your Apprenticeship, you will be a qualified Calibration Engineer and hold UKAS signatory status. Your further development will move you to a Senior Engineer, Technical Lead, Technical Specialist or a Management role. There is also the opportunity to further develop your formal qualifications. Requirements Minimum of 5 GCSE's including English and Maths at grade 4 or higher or in Scotland National 5 grade A-C in English, Math and Science PC literacy and knowledge of Microsoft software Proactive approach to learning and problem-solving Good interpersonal and communication skills Ability to attend college weekly in term time

About the Role As a Senior Calibration Technician at Trescal, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality calibration services to our diverse client base. You will be responsible for performing advanced calibration and measurements in accordance with UKAS and traceable procedures, as well as specific customer requirements. Your duties will include maintaining accurate and traceable records of work, data, and results using our calibration management systems. Calibrate a wide range of measuring equipment across multiple disciplines, including dimensional, mechanical, electrical, temperature, pressure, and mass. Develop, review, and audit both automated and manual calibration procedures to ensure compliance with company and industry standards. Provide technical support and mentoring to colleagues, assisting with their orientation and ongoing development. Participate in internal and external audits, supporting continuous improvement and quality initiatives. Analyse complex technical issues and deliver practical solutions, drawing on your expertise and experience. Ensure all calibration activities are completed in line with Health and Safety procedures, company policies, and recognised standards such as ISO/IEC 17025. Maintain calibration instrumentation, equipment, and facilities to the required standards, proactively identifying opportunities for process improvements. Occasionally undertake other duties within your capabilities, with appropriate training provided as needed. Requirements Proven experience working in a calibration laboratory or similar technical environment. Technical qualification such as HND, HNC, NVQ/BTEC Level 3 or above in a relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent practical experience. Strong knowledge of calibration practices, metrology, and theories, with practical experience across multiple disciplines. Good understanding of BS EN ISO/IEC 17025 and UKAS calibration procedures. Competence in using Windows-based operating systems and laboratory management software (e.g., Indysoft). Excellent attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate and auditable records. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with experience working in a customer-focused environment. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, managing your own workload effectively.
