About the Role As a full time IT Service Support Team Manager , you will play a pivotal role in ensuring outstanding service delivery across the IT Directorate and Avon and Somerset Police. You ll lead a dedicated team, manage service operations, and drive improvements that enhance efficiency and customer experience. What You ll Be Doing Leading and motivating a team to deliver exceptional IT Service Management support. Managing service operations including incident, major incident, change, and problem management . Driving continuous service improvement and eliminating inefficiencies across the IT Directorate. Maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders and suppliers, ensuring service levels are met or exceeded. Overseeing reporting, risk management, and service measures to proactively prioritise and improve IT services. Supporting strategic objectives and contributing to the overall vision of the organisation. What We re Looking For Significant experience in a mature IT environment and ITIL-based service delivery. Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams and chairing meetings. Excellent communication skills persuasive, clear, and confident across all levels. Key Responsibilities: Producing high-and low-level designs to meet challenging networking and security requirements. Building and configuring technical solutions of networked hardware and software with a strong focus on security. Fault finding, monitoring, and resolution of issues to a successful conclusion. Ensuring core networking and hosting platforms perform at optimal levels. Producing clear and concise technical documentation. Maintaining inventory of network hardware and network IP addressing. Reporting on progress and providing feedback to team members and leadership. Attending sites for resolution of issues, to support deployment for Projects and BAU activities. Taking ownership of internal projects and delivering them to a high standard. We are looking for a person who can: Demonstrate extensive experience in the installation and configuration of secure networks. Create technical and user documentation with high accuracy and attention to detail. Possess functional domain knowledge of routing protocols e.g., OSPF and BGP. Design networks to meet customer requirements with a focus on security. Configure Cisco Routers and switches with security best practices. Have WAN knowledge and experience with Azure Cloud connectivity and firewalls. Show expertise in Checkpoint firewalls and other network security technologies. Exhibit strong knowledge of routing and switching protocols. Manage network security protocols e.g., SNMP, SSH, SysLog. Work with Monitoring systems e.g., SolarWinds and experience with ticket systems, understanding priorities and SLAs. Implement and maintain robust network security measures to protect against threats and vulnerabilities.
