Working as part of the team, the Designer is responsible for producing a variety of design work within an established and strict brand infrastructure. Projects include flyers/leaflets, reporting documents, factsheets, data visualisation/infographics and digital assets across a variety of channels. The Design team pride themselves on high-quality work, and typically complete over 800 projects a year, using Teamwork Projects to assist with design schedules and workflow. To achieve this volume of projects, at the high standard expected, templates and established design styles are used to increase efficiency and ensure consistency across regular materials. For new and non-templated items, the Designer will create materials that fit within the wider suite of Royal Society materials, using the brand guidelines and established design styles to guide their design decisions. The role demands a consistent and accurate approach to layout and design to fulfil design requests within agreed timescales. Summer Science Exhibition The Summer Science Exhibition is the Society's flagship event, attracting thousands of visitors over six days. This year, we will feature 13 flagship exhibits covering topics from gut health to lightning to supercomputing, alongside a wide range of talks, panels, and drop-in activities. This free event attracts a diverse audience of all ages, giving everyone a chance to engage hands-on with groundbreaking research. With so much going on, we rely on our dedicated volunteers to ensure the success of this event. We'd like to invite you to become a part of the Summer Science Exhibition and its long history. Role Description Volunteers are essential to keeping this event free, engaging, and accessible. Main responsibilities centre around assisting and interacting with our visitors. Volunteers will have the opportunity to support a wide range of tasks during their shifts, including: Interacting with the public, greeting visitors and responding to queries.
