As senior product development engineer your role will be to deliver the technical and engineering activities required to develop high quality medical devices. To provide and apply advanced technical expertise in mechanical engineering to the development of product designs. To lead in the design of new products and amendment of existing products as required. To work in close association with Development, Manufacturing and Business Development personnel to ensure the highest levels of quality, reliability and manufacturability are achieved. Tasks and Responsibilities Product design ownership from front-end innovation phase to design development, testing/validation, manufacturing implementation, market launch, and through to end of product life cycle, championing great design to meet all performance and functional criteria. Manage multiple new product development and range maintenance/improvement projects, with accountability for meeting all parameters including cost, schedule and performance targets Generation of 3D Models, Assemblies, 2D Drawings, including maintenance of design history using appropriate industry standards and electronic control, at all stages of projects (SolidWorks) Hands on systematic engineering approach to resolving problems, building and testing experimental models, pre-production units and prototypes, drawing appropriate and qualified conclusions Lead and implement product risk management activity throughout the project, including dFMEA, Hazard Analysis, Risk management plans. Drive risk management in decision making to determine sound and timely decisions that balance compliance, business, and product performance. Lead design reviews, being the point of technical expertise within the team, reviewing and supporting as required. Lead and champion technical accuracy and soundness of an intended design solution including appropriate material selection, tolerance analysis/calculations, simulations, and testing to meet project goals. Develop and undertake test plans and procedures for experimental, verification and validation testing, to evaluate and ensure designs meet all specification requirements Generation of appropriate technical and project documentation including specifications, design and phase gate reviews, technical reports, risk assessments & design history documentation, to support program requirements and business goals. Apply LEAN manufacturing and DFM/DFMA principals into design concepts. If you have a mechanical engineering degree or equivalent and have significant experience in and knowledge of design engineering for high volume manufacturing and assembly, ideally in a highly regulated environment then we would love to hear from you now!
