We turn local knowledge and energy into action and progress, building stronger communities and a better future for Job Purpose: Pivot (Home from Hospital) Pivot (Home from Hospital) is delivered as part of the Pembrokeshire Integrated Assisted Discharge Partnership commissioned by the Hywel Dda University Health Board. The service aims to support people s discharge from the hospital and prevent unnecessary readmittance. It also supports people to either remain in or return to their own homes, where evidence shows they are most likely to make the best recovery and retain their independence for longer. As part of the wider partnership, Volunteering Matters recruits and places volunteers to provide short-term practical support to individuals in their homes, for example, providing help with shopping, light cleaning, or befriending, etc., and we are now looking for a dynamic Engagement Manager to join our local team. The role will involve recruiting, onboarding and supporting a local bank of volunteers, whilst managing referrals into the scheme, having What Matters conversations with service users and coordinating a matching process so that people get the timely help they need. The right candidate will be someone who can work flexibly and demonstrates an understanding and commitment to our organisational values. Please note: this role may require occasional Saturday mornings. Key Duties: 1. Recruit, interview, induct, train and support volunteers. 2. Work closely with the Pivot team and wider partnership to manage referrals into the project, updating on progress and plans in the process. 3. Engage with service users to conduct a What Matters conversation and develop individual support plans 4. Management of the matching/placement of volunteers, and monitoring and supporting the match throughout. 5. Maintain good record keeping, ensuring that evidence and impact data is collected so that we can monitor progress against outcomes 6. Promote the project through a range of techniques, instigating interest in volunteering and encouraging engagement. 7. Maintain effective relationships with volunteers, service users, colleagues and project partners. 8. Prepare reports to the Project Manager, based on agreed outputs and targets. 9. Risk assess all activities and volunteers, ensuring that they are regularly reviewed and amended if circumstances change. 10. Contribute to joint working and teamwork across Volunteering Matters and the Home from Hospital team. Experience/Skills and attributes: 1. A calm and collected demeanour, with the ability to reassure, support and allay the worries of service users. 2. Grandmentors Grandmentors is an innovative volunteering project where older volunteers (aged 50+) use their lifetime of skills and experience to support and mentor vulnerable young people leaving the care system. These young people often need a guiding hand and role model to support them to find work, continue their education or begin training - ultimately giving them the skills and self-belief to lead successful and independent lives. Volunteers meet with a young person regularly to boost their confidence and work towards goals, which are unique to each young person. Role Purpose To develop and deliver all aspects of our Grandmentors project in Hounslow, ensuring it achieves its aims, objectives, outcomes, and targets. The post holder will work closely with the Leaving Care and Participation teams within Hounslow County Council and local volunteers to ensure that we improve and empower the lives of care experienced young people (aged 16-25) through the unique power of inter-generational mentoring. Key Duties Responsibilities To effectively deliver the service to ensure the project meets its agreed targets and millstones. Maintain effective relationships with stakeholders and local authority staff at a day-to day level. To ensure volunteers are recruited, appropriately trained and supported in their role; this will involve processing volunteer expenses, DBS checks and maintaining databases. To ensure regular communication between project staff and volunteers is maintained and that regular supervision for volunteers is provided. To work with your line manager to ensure project expenditure is in line with the budget. To maintain accurate administration, for all aspects of the project. To maintain accurate records on all aspects of the project and submit data onto a secure database. To manage and maintain effective monitoring and evaluation records to capture impact and outcomes and ensure contractual compliance. To implement and maintain appropriate risk assessment management processes. To prepare regular reports including quarterly progress updates, impact reports and end of year reports for both internal and external purposes. To develop relevant information to promote and raise the profile of Volunteering Matters locally. To promote and adhere to Volunteering Matters Equality and Diversity Policy and all other Volunteering Matters policies which relate to the work of Grandmentors. To comply with the applicable Health and Safety and Safeguarding regulations. To contribute to joint working and teamwork across Volunteering Matters. Skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise a demanding and developing workload. Ability to assess risk and carry out risk assessments. Evidence of good administrative and IT skills and the ability to maintain project monitoring and administrative records. Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, stakeholders and partners. The ability to motivate, enthuse and empower yourself and others. This role requires an enhanced DBS check which will be undertaken with the successful candidate before starting. Other Location With a flexible working policy, the postholder can be based from home or within the Hounslow County Council office. The postholder will need internet access to enable remote working.
