Role: Station Facilities Manager Location: Banbury - Various Chiltern railway stations (Regional / National coverage as required) Salary: Up to 40,000 per annum Closing Date: Thursday 21st August 2025 Job Purpose The Facilities Manager is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and customer-focused management of all facilities within Chilterns railway stations. This role covers the day-to-day operational management of station buildings, platforms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities, ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements, operational standards, SQR (Service Quality Regime) and customer expectations. Key Accountabilities Oversee the maintenance, repair, and overall condition of station facilities, ensuring they are safe, clean, and operational at all times. Monitor contracted services including cleaning, waste management, landscaping, and specialist maintenance providers and liaise with the Facilities Contract Manager where services fall below specification Conduct regular inspections and audits of station facilities to identify and resolve defects promptly. Develop and implement maintenance schedules and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programmes. Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations, fire safety standards, and environmental legislation. Respond effectively to emergencies, incidents & reactive faults coordinating a team of Building Care Operatives Liaise with the FM Help Desk, station area managers, station front line customer service teams, Network Rail, local authorities, and other stakeholders to coordinate works and maintain operational continuity. Deliver continuous improvements to enhance passenger experience and meet SQR standards. Maintain accurate records, including statutory compliance documentation, maintenance logs, and contractor performance reports. Promote and enforce high standards of customer service across all facilities-related activities. Person Specification Essential Proven experience in facilities management within a complex, high-footfall environment (e.g., transport hubs, large commercial sites, airports, or railway stations). Strong understanding of health & safety legislation and statutory compliance requirements in the UK. Experience managing multi-disciplinary contractor teams and service providers. Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities. Ability to work flexibly, including occasional evenings or weekends in response to operational needs. Proficient in using facilities management software and Microsoft Office applications. Desirable NEBOSH or IOSH qualification. Knowledge of rail industry standards and operations. Experience working in a unionised environment. Role: Building Care Operative/Maintenance Technician/Handyman Location: Banbury station - with travel to other sites as required Contract Type: Permanent Salary: £35,000 per annum Purpose of the role To provide reliable and semi-skilled handyperson services to support our Property, Assets & Facilities Management team supporting the upkeep of station assets and buildings and supporting the provision of planned and reactive non-technical maintenance in the 4 depots. This role involves carrying out a variety of repair, maintenance, and general handyman duties to ensure the stations remain safe, clean, SQR (Service Quality Regime) compliant and fully operational for passengers and staff. Key Responsibilities: Perform general maintenance tasks including minor repairs, painting, carpentry, plumbing, and general SQR and safety checks To assist depot technical staff with 2-man jobs (Light column lowering) Inspect Chiltern facilities regularly and report or resolve issues such as broken fixtures, faulty doors, lighting problems, vandalism and SQR failures Maintain and repair station furniture, signage, platforms, and public areas Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies. Support the installation of new equipment or infrastructure when required Comply with health & safety policies and procedures, ensuring all work is conducted safely Liaise with station management, contractors, and suppliers as needed. Maintain accurate records of maintenance work performed via the Chiltern Concerto system Assist with seasonal tasks such as snow clearance, gutter and ground drainage cleaning, leaf removal, and general grounds upkeep including vegetation removal Personal Specification: Previous experience as a handyman or maintenance operative, preferably in a public or transport environment Basic skills in carpentry, plumbing, painting, and minor electrical repairs Good understanding of health & safety regulations related to railway environments Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach Physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays Full UK driving licence is essential Desirable Experience: Experience working within railway or transport infrastructure. Environmental Manager Introduction The Environmental Manager will develop and evolve the Chiltern environmental and energy management strategy to enable high standards of environmental performance across the Chiltern business. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving and influencing positive change across all aspects of environmental management, by ensuring the business is compliant to relevant environment legislation. You will further manage both internal and external validation audits to provide business assurance, and drive continuous improvement in line with the business's long term environmental and sustainability strategies. Please note: This is a hybrid role with flexible office and home working, nominally based at Banbury.
