The Exams Officer is responsible for the planning, coordination, and delivery of all examinations within the organisation, ensuring they are conducted in line with awarding body regulations, internal policies, and statutory requirements. The role ensures the integrity, security, and accuracy of the examination process from registrations through to results and certifications. The Exams Officer acts as the main point of contact for awarding bodies, staff, learners, and external partners, providing guidance and administrative support throughout the academic cycle. They manage exam timetables, venues, invigilation arrangements, access arrangements, exam materials, and post-exam processes, ensuring deadlines are met and records are accurate. The role requires excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work calmly under pressure, particularly during peak exam periods, while maintaining confidentiality and compliance at all times. We are supporting a leading UK university with the implementation of a Current Research Information System (CRIS) and are seeking an experienced PURE SME to provide hands-on system expertise and delivery support. This is a greenfield implementation of PURE (Elsevier), aimed at creating a single, authoritative repository for research data including outputs, archives, and researcher information, in preparation for future REF submissions (2028/29). The role: Title: Subject Matter Expert Start Date: ASAP Contract Length: 3 - 6 months IR35: Outside Rate: TBC Location: Remote (Occasional days on site desirable but not essential) You will act as a PURE (Elsevier) Subject Matter Expert, supporting an established delivery team that already includes Programme Management and Business Analysis capability. The focus of this role is deep system knowledge and practical delivery support. Key responsibilities include: Providing hands-on expertise across PURE configuration and workflows Supporting data migration and data loading activities (staff, student, research outputs, archives) Advising on out-of-the-box vs bespoke configuration decisions Supporting the programme through UAT preparation and execution Acting as a trusted advisor to the university delivery team, helping to unblock issues and accelerate progress Working closely with internal stakeholders across research, IT, and programme delivery Required Experience Proven experience working with PURE CRIS (essential) Strong understanding of research information systems within Higher Education Experience supporting system configuration, workflows, and data migration Familiarity with REF requirements and research reporting is highly desirable Please click here to find out more about our Key Information Documents.
