Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including site teams, project managers, permanent works designers, and specialist subcontractors, to ensure designs meet operational, programme, and safety requirements. Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and support to junior engineers and designers. Conduct site visits and inspections to validate design assumptions, assess compliance, and resolve technical issues during construction. Participate in temporary works coordination meetings, risk assessments, constructability reviews, and design reviews. Ensure temporary works designs are fully integrated into project delivery plans and comply with CDM regulations, industry standards, and company procedures. Support innovation and continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance design efficiency, buildability, and safety performance. Keep up to date with the latest developments in temporary works engineering, construction methodologies, and industry best practice., Person Specification Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline. A Master's degree is desirable. Chartered Engineer (CEng) status, or actively working towards chartership. Significant experience in structural engineering and temporary works design within the civil engineering or construction industry. Strong understanding of temporary works procedures, governance, and design requirements in accordance with relevant British Standards and industry guidance. Experience designing a range of temporary works solutions, including excavations, retaining systems, foundations, working platforms, formwork, falsework, and lifting arrangements. Proficiency in engineering and design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla Tedds, STAAD Pro, or equivalent analysis tools. Strong understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing, and site constraints associated with major infrastructure projects. Proven leadership capability with the ability to manage multiple projects and workstreams simultaneously. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence technical decisions and build strong relationships across project teams. We are seeking an experienced Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Advisor to support civil works activities on an electrical cable route project based in Bridgewater, Somerset. This is a part-time contract role (3 days per week) for an initial 6-month period. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that all civil engineering activities associated with the cable installation are delivered in compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation, company standards, and best practice. Key Responsibilities Provide day-to-day HSE support and advice to site teams working on civil aspects of the cable route Monitor site activities to ensure compliance with relevant HSE legislation, company procedures, and project requirements. Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and safety tours, identifying hazards and implementing corrective actions. Support the development and review of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS). Promote a strong safety culture across the project, encouraging proactive reporting and continuous improvement. Investigate incidents, near misses, and non-conformances, ensuring appropriate corrective and preventive measures are implemented. Liaise with contractors, subcontractors, and project stakeholders on all HSE matters. Ensure environmental controls are in place, particularly in relation to groundworks, waste management, and ecological considerations. Deliver toolbox talks, briefings, and HSE training as required. We're currently supporting a well-established engineering consultancy that is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Civil Technician to join their growing civil infrastructure team. This is a senior technical role with real responsibility, offering the chance to lead civil design delivery across a range of complex projects while mentoring junior staff and working closely with engineers and project managers. The Role As a Senior Civil Technician, you'll take a lead role in the production and coordination of detailed civil engineering designs, primarily using Autodesk Civil 3D . Projects typically include site development, roads, drainage, stormwater management, and water & sewer utilities, including pressurised systems for mission-critical facilities.
