Significant experience in structural engineering and temporary works design within the civil engineering or construction industry. Strong understanding of temporary works procedures, governance, and design requirements in accordance with relevant British Standards and industry guidance. Experience designing a range of temporary works solutions, including excavations, retaining systems, foundations, working platforms, formwork, falsework, and lifting arrangements. Proficiency in engineering and design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla Tedds, STAAD Pro, or equivalent analysis tools. Strong understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing, and site constraints associated with major infrastructure projects. Proven leadership capability with the ability to manage multiple projects and workstreams simultaneously. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence technical decisions and build strong relationships across project teams. We are seeking an experienced Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Advisor to support civil works activities on an electrical cable route project based in Bridgewater, Somerset. This is a part-time contract role (3 days per week) for an initial 6-month period. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that all civil engineering activities associated with the cable installation are delivered in compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation, company standards, and best practice. Key Responsibilities Provide day-to-day HSE support and advice to site teams working on civil aspects of the cable route Monitor site activities to ensure compliance with relevant HSE legislation, company procedures, and project requirements. Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and safety tours, identifying hazards and implementing corrective actions. Support the development and review of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS). Promote a strong safety culture across the project, encouraging proactive reporting and continuous improvement. This is a senior technical role with real responsibility, offering the chance to lead civil design delivery across a range of complex projects while mentoring junior staff and working closely with engineers and project managers. The Role As a Senior Civil Technician, you'll take a lead role in the production and coordination of detailed civil engineering designs, primarily using Autodesk Civil 3D .
