Responsibilities - Operate and maintain wood machining equipment, including saws, sanders, CNC machines, moulders, etc. - Usage of hand & power tools - Measure, mark out, and prepare materials accurately based on technical specifications. - Set up, adjust, and operate a variety of wood machining equipment to produce high-quality components. - Assemble and inspect components to ensure they meet quality standards and align with technical drawings. - Work from detailed technical drawings and designs to produce precise pieces. - Perform regular maintenance on machinery and tools to prevent wear and ensure safety compliance. - Maintain a safe, clean, and organized working environment by adhering to health and safety regulations. - Collaborate with team members and contribute to problem-solving and continuous improvement efforts. Qualifications - Proven experience as a Wood Machinist or in a similar woodworking role. - Proficiency in operating saws, sanders, CNC machines, moulders, and other woodworking tools. - Strong ability to measure, mark out, and prepare materials with a high degree of precision. - Knowledge of setting up and operating wood machining and cutting equipment. - Experience working from detailed technical drawings and schematics. - Keen attention to detail with strong quality-checking abilities. - Understanding of safety protocols when operating heavy machinery in a workshop setting. - Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a diverse and inclusive team. - Strong communication skills with a problem-solving mindset. Preferred Skills & Attributes: - Formal training or certification in carpentry, woodworking, or a related field is a plus. - City & Guilds Level 2 or NVQ Level 3 in Wood Machining, Bespoke Furniture Making, or a related discipline - Familiarity with modern woodworking design software or CNC programming tools (e.g., CAD/CAM) is a bonus. Day-to-day - Review daily work orders and technical drawings to determine job priorities. - Set up and operate a variety of woodworking tools, machinery, and equipment for cutting, shaping, and assembling materials. - Inspect materials and end products for accuracy, ensuring all components meet project specifications and quality standards. - Keep proper records of inventory and tools in use, as well as completed product counts. - Collaborate with peers and team leaders to ensure deadlines are met and address any production issues. - Maintain organization and cleanliness of the workshop, ensuring machinery meets safety and operational standards. The working hours are 06:00-14:20 Monday to Friday. The starting pay is £13.80 £14.67/h (depending on skills & experience). This is a full-time, temp-to-perm opportunity for the right candidate.
