About the role You will be responsible for leading the site Quality agenda, ensuring the full deployment of the quality strategy, systems and processes to ensure the delivery of class leading product quality performance. Leading a small team of Quality Assistants, you will work closely with Operations and the site Continuous Improvement Manager to ensure processes and activities have clear standards which are met rigorously and continue to be developed in line with best practice. You will help champion and deliver a quality improvement mindset, supporting CI activities across the whole site. To apply for this opportunity, you will need • Extensive experience of developing and managing quality systems and audit processes with previous experience of BRC, ISO & food safety standards • Previous experience in Print/packaging industry a distinct advantage • Proven ability to implement process improvement initiatives • Previous experience of line managing or supervising teams • Fully qualified BSI Lead Auditor • Competent user of MS Office, in particular Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook • Experience of ERP systems, preferably EFI Radius and SAP Main Responsibilities • Manage the day to day activities of the Quality Team, coordinating activities required to meet Company, site and regulatory quality standards. • Ensure compliance with specific external and internal standards including BRC, ISO 9001, 14001 and A2 permit. • Specifically, to manage and improve procedures, documentation & auditing of the quality management system. Work closely with operational and technical colleagues to ensure understanding and responsibilities. • Understand the needs and expectations of customers regarding product quality, ensuring these expectations are a core part of the quality management system. • Ensure the internal audit schedule is kept fully updated and all recommendations and NCR s are relayed back to the relevant business areas, actioned and closed off accordingly. • Ensure the site is always at Audit Ready status. • Effectively investigate and process customer complaints, managing the process for any corrective and preventative action. • Develop and maintain quality assurance metrics and reporting for both internal and external purposes including complaints, internal NCR s, in-house rejects, customer returns and cost of all errors and waste. • Together with Line Managers, identify training needs to meet quality requirements and deliver internal training where appropriate. • Regularly communicate with Operations regarding quality issues, attending daily operations meetings to report any relevant Quality issues. • Represent the Quality Department within the Site Leadership Team, playing a full part in the delivery of the site strategy and budget. • Help develop a culture of compliance, quality and continuous improvement across the site. • Manage all site health and safety procedures, ensuring site H&S standards are met. • Deliver site Quality induction to all new employees. • Continuously develop own knowledge on best practice, networking with colleagues at other sites and by keeping abreast of industry and legislative developments. • Lead and develop Quality team members, ensuring individuals have the appropriate level of support, 1:1 s and training to enable them to perform effectively. Ensure team members receive regular feedback and that all performance appraisals and development plans are up to date. We are offering an exciting opportunity for an Ink Technician to join our team! As an Ink Technician, is responsible for ensuring that high quality of inks are made and maintained and that your role is conducted in a safe and controlled manner in line with the required standards and operating procedures. You will be responsible for understanding the customer requirements for colour specification and ensuring that they are met to the highest possible standard. Ink Technician Responsibilities: Your key duties will include: Operate in line with site health and safety, environmental and quality standards including BRC, ISO & A2 environmental. Make and prepare all inks for production right first time to known data standards and anilox strengths. Identify any ink that has been used and returned ready for subsequent runs. Ensure that your own dispensing key is used at all times. Maintain a clean, safe working environment, ensuring that all spills are logged and cleaned immediately. Operate processes in line with lean manufacturing techniques including SMED and the 5S principles Maximise the use of press returns by ensuring that press returns are always used before virgin ink. Manage activity via the IFS6 programme, ensuring there is enough ink to complete an order, minimising top up requirements to maximise production time. Ensure there is sufficient ink supply for up to 24 hours. As the production plan is subject to change, ensure the 24 hour threshold is not breached. Make full use of the eXact spectro, IFS6 and IQC, to reduce press downtime to a minimum. Log press returns back into the system for future ease of use. Assist the Printers on press should any minor adjustments be required, making any changes to the system recipe as required. Maintain the distillation plant and optimise waste inks and solvent, ensuring waste generated is minimised as much as possible. Assist the Ink Room Manager with other duties as and when required. Specifically, help with the offloading of ink deliveries and support stock takes and re-ordering of ink supplies. When asked, contribute to site continuous improvement projects. What we need from you: Forklift Truck license essential/training provided X-rite equipment trained Demonstrable knowledge of working with Print Colours Good understanding of continuous improvement techniques, e.g. lean & 5S Exposure to quality, health, safety and environmental standards and practices within a production setting Colour matching experience Exposure to quality, health, safety and environmental standards and practices within a production setting Fluent English ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and understand both written and verbal work instructions A reasonable level of fitness is required as the role involves some physical activity e.g. lifting & bending.
