Electrical Design Manager Data Centre Refurbishment Hybrid (London, Milton Keynes, or Chester) A specialist data centre developer delivering refurbishment and upgrade schemes across the UK and Europe is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Manager to lead and coordinate design delivery across multiple live and planned data centre sites. This is a hybrid role with time split between remote working and office presence (London, Milton Keynes, or Chester), and may involve occasional site visits. The successful candidate must bring deep technical understanding of electrical infrastructure in live or legacy data centre environments. Key Responsibilities: Lead the electrical design coordination for refurbishment and upgrade works across Tier II IV data centre sites. Work closely with internal project teams, consultants, and contractors to deliver integrated and buildable design solutions. Review and manage the production of technical documentation, specifications, and drawings to align with project scope and phased delivery plans. Oversee compliance with relevant regulations, design standards, and Uptime Institute best practices. Coordinate early-stage surveys and develop upgrade strategies for existing systems including LV distribution, UPS, standby generation, and containment. Participate in design risk workshops, value engineering exercises, and constructability reviews. Maintain interface with client stakeholders, facilities management teams, and commissioning managers. Support commercial teams with technical input on procurement packages and scope development. Lead or contribute to HAZOP, DfMA, and compliance reviews. Candidate Requirements: UK-based, ideally within commuting distance of London, Milton Keynes, or Chester (hybrid working supported). Electrically qualified with a strong background in data centre electrical infrastructure. Minimum 5+ years experience in a design management or technical leadership role within MEP or mission-critical sectors. Deep understanding of refurbishment constraints, live environment phasing, and data centre resilience strategies. Confident coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and leading design meetings and reviews. Knowledge of relevant UK regulations and standards (BS 7671, EN 50600, etc.). Familiarity with BIM coordination workflows is advantageous. Mechanical Engineer 6 month contract We are partnering with a cradle to grave project delivery partner specialising in planning, commercial and project management. Due to continued growth in their utilities department, they are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to aid with their development in Macclesfield, Manchester. Responsibilities Design and Development: Lead the design of water infrastructure projects, including pipelines, treatment plants, reservoirs, and drainage systems, ensuring designs meet project specifications, standards, and client requirements. Site Assessments and Data Analysis: Conduct site visits, surveys, and assessments to gather data for the design process, analyzing soil conditions, topography, and environmental impacts to inform project plans. Collaboration and Coordination: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, environmental engineers, and contractors, to ensure designs are integrated and executed efficiently throughout the project lifecycle. Compliance and Regulatory Adherence: Ensure all designs comply with relevant local, state, and federal regulations, industry standards, and environmental guidelines, including preparing documentation for regulatory approvals. Project Documentation and Reporting: Prepare detailed design calculations, specifications, drawings, and reports, and assist in the preparation of tender documents, cost estimates, and proposals. Troubleshooting and Optimization: Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and provide solutions to design-related problems. Continuously optimize designs for cost-effectiveness, efficiency, and sustainability. Requirements Bachelors or equivalent Civils qualification 3-5 years post qualification experience Experience in Utilities (Gas or Water) Would be advantageous Previous Design experience desirable - Drivers Licence Desirable Benefits 6 month contract with permanent contract potential Fully expensed travel and nights away £325-£350 per day outside IR35
