Purpose of the Role The purpose of the role is to manufacture, weld, assemble and install piping structures used in conveying and handling the likes of food stuffs, powders, hot liquids and steam. The Pipefitter welder will take direction and instruction from the assigned Project/Contracts engineer and assume responsibility for facilitating the day to day requirements of specific projects whilst on clients sites and in the workshop ensuring that you are working safely and efficiently whilst satisfying the needs of the business and the customer. Working to maximise manufacturing output, maintain efficiencies and reduce costs, in accordance with project engineering schedules. Experienced in hygienic stainless-steel purge TIG welding of dairy, sched tube and ancillary items such as brackets and supports. An understanding of temperature-controlled pipe work systems. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings such as P&IDs, layouts, and spool drawings. Excellent team working and organisational skills, being able to prioritise requirements to meet demands from project engineering. Possess a good understanding of the principles of mechanical engineering and hygienic practice within the food manufacturing environment. Experience in delivering solutions to technical issues. Sound interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written), with the ability to communicate at all levels both internally and externally with customers, suppliers and staff. Experience of technical projects including working to tight timescales and meeting project milestones throughout the project life cycle.
