Central Government Programme Overview techUK's Central Government Programme represents the supplier community to the public sector, and aims to lead debate on new technologies, optimise use of existing capabilities and provide a forum for central government departments to engage with industry. The programme represents the views of our member companies working with a range of government departments and agencies to transform the delivery of public and private services. Purpose This role reports to techUK's Director of Markets and its purpose is to lead techUK's Central Government programme, and be a senior and high-profile voice for our wider public sector work. This challenging and wide-ranging position provides an opportunity to work with senior level representatives from industry and Government to support the development and implementation of a major programme of work around public sector transformation. The Central Government team covers one of techUK's most high-profile and busiest agendas. The Head of Programme is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the programme, working to create the right conditions for Government to become the most intelligent client for technology possible, and helping our members understand Government requirements so they are in the best position to supply tech to departments. The role involves helping techUK shape and inform Government technology and procurement strategies and policies, as well as working with individual departments and agencies on market engagement activities. The role will require you to deliver against a range of financial and performance targets (including membership growth and retention, income management and the management and development of a team of talented professionals) and to manage a complex workload with competing demands. Key Responsibilities Be accountable for the development and delivery of a strategically aligned annual plan that reflects the priorities and needs of techUK members in the central Government market. Present techUK as the voice of the technology industry to Government Departments and key stakeholders. Build and maintain senior relationships with Commercial and DDaT leaders across Central Government. Become a senior leader for techUK's wider agenda around public services transformation. Oversee the publication of reports, thought leadership, newsletters and briefings and the organisation of a series of events and activities in support of the annual plan. Achieve annual financial targets. Be the public face of techUK's Government work. Liaise with other techUK teams to identify and exploit cross-fertilisation opportunities with other programmes within techUK; Run key Boards and Working Groups such as techUK's Public Services Board and Central Government Council. Manage and develop a talented team to ensure the successful delivery of the programme and help staff reach their full potential. Competencies A self-motivated individual who is comfortable working with competing demands and responding to tight deadlines and operate with a good degree of autonomy. An effective and motivational manager. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical and policy information effectively to a range of audiences.
