About the Role We are seeking a flexible and motivated Support Worker/Driver to be part of a team which provides the highest standards of activities, personal care and support to people whose needs may include: Learning Disability, Mental Health, Autism, Dementia, other age related needs or feeling vulnerable or isolated. Driving is an essential part of the role as we collect people, take them out within the community during the day and return them home at the end of day. About you For the above position you will need to be able to deliver support in all aspects of daily living and personal care in a dignified and confidential manner whilst promoting independence and helping an individual to achieve their aims and goals. Previous experience within a care and support, and driving role is preferable but not essential as full training will be provided.

The Oxfordshire Shared Lives Scheme supports people to become carers and provide paid care in their own home to adults who need some help and support with day-to-day life. The assistance needed can vary a great deal depending on the individual. The aim is, as far as possible, to enable people to live the kind of life they choose, in an ordinary household. People who use the service need practical and emotional support to live their lives more fully and independently and feel part of a family household. They may have mental health difficulties, a learning disability, physical health needs, be an older person needing extra help, or a young person leaving care requiring continued support. We are keen to recruit people from all backgrounds who feel they can offer this type of paid support in their own home. Shared Lives Carers are approved with the County Council and work on a Self -employed basis. This means that you can still do your 'day job' if preferred or, focus on working from home and offer someone anything from occasional short breaks through to a longer-term, full-time arrangement whereby someone lives with you. You don't need to have had previous experience in Social Care but you do need to have a positive approach, be willing to learn , have a spare bedroom and be comfortable sharing your home. There is a training and assessment process and you will be fully supported by the Shared Lives Scheme. Shared Lives Carers are paid a sessional rate . The weekly rates per person you support are £417- £568. There are special tax arrangements for Shared Lives Carers. This means that you can be earning up to £40,000 in this role without needing to pay tax on this income f you have questions or doubts about whether you would be suitable, then please do contact the Shared Lives Scheme on so we can talk it through with you. What You'll Do As a Specialist Customer Service Officer, you'll be the first point of contact for adults seeking support. You'll offer a welcoming voice and a steady hand, responding to enquiries from the public and partner agencies including health professionals, police, and fire and rescue services. Main daily duties will include: Responding to customer enquiries via phone, email, and web referrals Making outbound calls to follow up on enquiries and referrals Reading reports and identifying safeguarding concerns for appropriate escalation Processing referrals for Adult Social Care (ASC) and partner services, assessing needs and identifying the priority of cases for onward referrals Using ASC databases to retrieve and update information, resolve queries, or signpost to other services in line with The Oxfordshire Way: Oxfordshire Way strategic vision Oxfordshire County Council Working closely with Team Leaders, colleagues, and external agencies to progress cases through to resolution. What We're Looking For Minimum of 5 GCSEs (Grades A -C / 4 or above), including Maths and English, or equivalent. We also welcome relevant knowledge and skills gained through work experience. Confident using Microsoft Office and digital communication tools. Previous customer service experience is essential, particularly in handling challenging conversations by phone and email. Experience in social care or supporting vulnerable people is desirable. Ability to manage your own workload and priorities tasks across multiple channels i.e. email, phone, etc. A genuine interest in helping people, with the ability to actively listen and communicate clearly - both verbally and in writing. Excellent communication, patience, and professionalism are key - especially when dealing with sensitive or emotionally charged situations. You should be confident making decisions independently and know when to escalate more complex enquiries. An interest in social and health care services is important. Familiarity with social care systems (e.g. LiquidLogic or LAS) would be an advantage. Additional Information This role requires a Standard DBS check with Barred List clearance. You'll need to be able to travel across the county and work from various office locations as needed.
