Act as personal and professional development mentor regarding professional regulation, responsibilities and fitness to practice. Teach and collaborate with other clinical teachers to ensure achievement of learning outcomes in clinical contexts with patients, liaising with Medical Faculty and hospital staff. Provide a clinical base in the community and recruit and brief patients and other community members involved in teaching. To participate in the programme of tutor development: Attend briefing meetings and keep up to date with changes in course material and delivery. Mentor new tutors. Contribute to the review and evaluation of the VS course. Participate in appraisal by course directors if required (e.g., for retired clinicians). Meet with other tutors to engage in tutor debrief and development sessions. Reflect on student evaluation and feedback to appropriate member of the VS team. To contribute to the assessment of students: Provide formative assessment of clinical and communication skills. Undertake marking of VS summative coursework, including giving effective written feedback. Participate in OSCEs (formative and summative) and provide feedback to students. Job Purpose This SCREDS Clinical Lectureship provides a structured pathway for a clinician in Hepatology and Gastroenterology to develop academic research skills alongside continued clinical training. The post will enable the postholder to build an independent research portfolio in translational hepatology or gastroenterology, generate data to support a fellowship application, and contribute to the research and teaching mission of the School of Infection and Immunity. Job Purpose To contribute a leading contribution to the MRC Programme grant titled "Targeting the primary afferent drivers of neuropathic pain," working with Dr Greg Weir and his wider neurobiology of pain lab. Our laboratory aims to define the pathological changes that occur in the nervous system following injury and that give rise to neuropathic pain. We use this fundamental understanding to develop innovative strategies to reverse these changes and ultimately treat pain. This project is a close collaboration between our group in Glasgow and the laboratory of Professor David Bennett at the University of Oxford. The University of Glasgow is seeking to appoint a talented and highly motivated Programme Manager to join the £10 million Gambling Harms Research and Evidence Centre, funded by UKRI via a statutory levy on the gambling industry. The Centre is a collaboration between the Universities of Glasgow, Sheffield, Swansea and Kings College London. In addition, the Centre will oversee and support a wider consortium of Gambling Harms Research and Innovation Partnerships (GHRIPs) drawn from around 20 additional institutions and sits at the heart of a £50 million investment by UKRI into gambling harms.
