Business Design Manager - Central Government Transformation Up to £635/day Inside IR35 Hybrid/London Initial engagement to March 2027 We are supporting a leading consultancy on a major transformation programme within Central Government and are looking for experienced Business Design Managers to join a newly established team. This is a hands on transformation role focused on redesigning complex operational services in response to changing policy, operational and technology requirements. This is not a traditional Project Manager position. We are particularly interested in people with backgrounds in business design, operating-model design, business architecture, process transformation or senior business analysis who are comfortable taking an ambiguous problem and turning it into a practical future state solution. The role Working within a blended multidisciplinary team, you will: Map and analyse complex end to end operational processes. Develop As Is and To Be process designs. Translate policy and strategic objectives into practical operational changes. Facilitate workshops with operational, policy, digital and senior stakeholders. Identify process, technology, data and organisational requirements. Work closely with Digital teams to translate business needs into system/technology requirements. Help design solutions that can move rapidly into pilot and testing. Produce clear documentation, recommendations and stakeholder packs. Work autonomously while maintaining alignment with the wider transformation programme. Support junior colleagues while remaining personally hands on with delivery. We are looking for somebody who can do more than simply document what they are told. You should be comfortable asking the right questions, challenging assumptions constructively and helping stakeholders determine what the future process should actually look like. What we're looking for You will ideally have: Strong business/process design or operating model experience. Excellent process mapping capability. Experience of requirements gathering and analysis. Experience delivering transformation within Central Government or the wider public sector. Strong workshop facilitation and stakeholder management skills. Experience working across operational, policy and digital/technology teams. The confidence to guide senior stakeholders through complex or ambiguous problems. A genuinely hands on approach to consulting and delivery. Experience within the Home Office, immigration, law enforcement or another operational government environment would be particularly useful, although it is not essential. Experience of government digital delivery approaches such as Discovery, Alpha, Beta and Pilot would also be advantageous. Clearance Security clearance is required for the programme. Existing SC clearance would be advantageous, although candidates who meet the relevant eligibility requirements and can undertake the clearance process can also be considered. Overview ServiceNow CMDB Developer / Automation Engineer Engagement type: Contractor Location: Cambridge Expected duration: 6 months Start: As soon as possible. Day Rate: £650pd to £750pd Inside IR35 Reporting line: Reports to the CMDB Product Owner. Role purpose The ServiceNow CMDB Developer / Automation Engineer will build and configure the ServiceNow capabilities required to support the client's CMDB uplift programme. The role will turn agreed CMDB/CSDM design, governance controls, and data quality requirements into working ServiceNow solutions. This includes ownership and lifecycle controls, automated remediation workflows, certification campaigns, CMDB dashboards, simplified forms/views, readiness gates, data quality rules, and integration-related configuration. The role is expected to be hands-on. The candidate must be comfortable working in an existing ServiceNow environment where the CMDB requires remediation, simplification, and operational improvement. Expected deliverables Ownership gating configuration. Lifecycle guardrails and stale CI handling automation. Data quality remediation workflows. Certification campaign workflows and escalation logic. CMDB Health-related rules and remediation processes. Domain scorecards and CMDB KPI dashboards. Simplified CMDB forms, lists and views. CI/service readiness gate workflow support. Knowledge transfer and handover material. Required experience Candidates must have strong experience with: ServiceNow platform development and configuration. Flow Designer, Business Rules, UI Policies, Client Scripts and scheduled jobs. ServiceNow CMDB tables, CI classes, relationships and configuration records. CMDB Health, data quality rules, duplicate detection or remediation workflows. ServiceNow reporting, dashboards and preferably Performance Analytics. Building workflow automation for approvals, tasks, notifications and escalations. Import sets, transform maps and ServiceNow data loading patterns. Working with ServiceNow developers, architects, BAs and product owners in delivery teams. Testing ServiceNow configuration changes in sub-production before release. Producing clear technical documentation and handover notes. Working in existing enterprise ServiceNow environments rather than only clean new implementations. Desirable experience Useful but not mandatory: ServiceNow CMDB, ITOM or Discovery experience. ServiceNow Integration Hub experience. REST API integration experience. Service Graph Connector experience. ServiceNow Service Mapping exposure. ServiceNow Performance Analytics experience. ITSM, ITOM, SACM or CMDB process knowledge. Experience supporting CMDB remediation, governance or data quality programmes. Experience in large enterprise or regulated environments. ServiceNow Certified Application Developer or relevant ServiceNow implementation certifications.
