We're now looking for a Website Lead to take full ownership of our website strategy, delivery and optimisation. This is a critical role within our Marketing & Communications team that blends creativity, technical expertise, and customer-first thinking. What you'll be doing This is a key role within our Marketing & Communications team and crucial in helping us engage with our customers on a day-to-day basis. Work with the Digital Executive and the marketing and communications team to execute strategic plans and communication tactics to inform, educate or engage customers - thinking mobile first. Ensuring the accuracy and hygiene of customer data adhering to customer preferences; maintaining opt-in practices and complying with data protection regulations. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT and customer experience to design, develop engaging website content, and deploying best practice in tracking and measuring the performance of the website. It will require an understanding of CMS and basic HTML. You will adhere to all regulatory requirements and promote inclusive by design thinking and implementation across the website. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for design, finely tuned technical skills, and a keen eye for detail. Key Responsibilities As Website Lead, you will: Own and manage all technical aspects of the website. Oversee day-to-day website activities including uploading new content, publishing new pages, and ensuring accessibility, SEO optimisation, and brand consistency. Create, edit, and tailor website copy to ensure it is platform-appropriate, inclusive and engaging. Collaborate with internal teams to implement communication strategies and execute digital campaigns. Champion data accuracy and customer preferences, ensuring GDPR compliance and opt-in best practices. Track and measure website performance using analytics tools, sharing actionable insights regularly. Manage the relationship with the web development agency, ensuring timely and effective issue resolution. Partner with IT to ensure robust website security, cookie management, and policy compliance. Stay ahead of digital trends, tools, and technologies to drive innovation and improvements. Maintain documentation and follow internal change control processes rigorously. What We're Looking For Experience & Knowledge 3+ years' experience as a Web Content Manager or similar role. Deep understanding of web disciplines and CMS platforms. Strong grasp of website analytics and user journeys. Working knowledge of HTML. Experience managing external web development agencies. Familiarity with web accessibility standards, GDPR, and working within regulated environments. Experience with Google Tag Manager (desirable). Skills in wireframing, design software and web optimisation techniques. Line management experience Skills & Competencies Takes ownership and drives projects from brief to delivery. Proactive, self-motivated and thrives under pressure. Collaborative team player who communicates effectively across functions. Excellent written and verbal communication with a keen eye for detail. Understands the importance of tone, storytelling and design in customer communication. Benefits: Salary £23,000 - £28,000 pro rata based on 3 days. The Smart Metering project is a new but extremely important initiative for Affinity Water. This is a key role within the new Smart Metering team, responsible for providing governance and oversight for the programme to ensure it is delivered effectively and efficiently whilst meeting the business objectives for smart metering deployment and benefits realisation. Principal accountabilities Affinity Water is changing the way we manage leaks and reduce customer water usage and bills and have an objective to install 400,000 Smart Meters to our customers in the period of and 1.5 million by 2040 (out of a customer base of 3.8 million). The smart metering programme has been developed to support in meeting our environmental and water conservation goals whilst considering population growth. We need to deliver an ambitious demand management programme that delivers a mix of leakage reduction (through fixing leaks and replacing pipes), smart metering and water efficiency campaigns. Reporting to the Head of Smart Metering, this role is responsible for establishing and maintaining a robust project governance framework, ensuring effective delivery across the workstreams, and providing performance reports to effectively manage outputs and track benefits. What you need: Educated to degree level in a relevant subject or equivalent experience Experience in a senior programme management role Knowledge of project, programme, and portfolio management Experience developing and leading on the implementation of strategies for complex projects.
