We're currently recruiting a Catchment Technician to join our recovery & treatment team based in Bideford. Joining us on a permanent full time basis , you will receive a competitive salary of £29,934 - £40,668 per annum with the opportunity to enter our company progression scheme. In addition to this, you will also receive a salary uplift allowance for taking part in the standby rota. Core hours are 37 per week with a 1 in 5 week standby and call out rota, once training is complete. About the role As the Catchment Technician, you will provide support to the area wastewater services treatment and sewage pumping stations managers, and the wider wastewater services Management team. In this fast-paced and critical role, you'll work closely with regional operational teams, planners, and central functions to coordinate real-time responses to alarms and incidents, ensuring wastewater assets are managed safely and efficiently. You'll help drive a proactive approach to regulatory compliance and pollution risk mitigation, minimising environmental impact while maintaining service excellence. What you'll be doing: Monitor, operate, and intervene remotely on WWS assets using key operational systems (e.g. FFP, Lightfoot and other relevant platforms). Maintain real-time visibility of asset performance across the designated region. Perform real-time alarm monitoring and management across wastewater assets. Triage, prioritise, and support early resolution of all P3 and P4 alarms in line with agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Escalate issues appropriately to operational teams where required. Act as a central coordination point between field colleagues, operational teams, and planning and scheduling teams to optimise response effectiveness. Salary: £26,914 FTE (£13,457 per annum based on 50% contracted hours) Location: The role is based in Bodmin and you will need to be able to work from that Depot in your working week. In this hands-on role, your work will directly support regulatory compliance, performance monitoring, and the safe operation of our waste water treatment processes. What you'll be doing: Carrying out a range of waste water sampling activities in line with ISO17025:2017 , OSM, UV and UWWTR regulatory requirements. Maintaining accurate records, sample integrity, and full compliance with quality management systems. Working safely at all times, following risk assessments, procedures, and training guidance. Representing the company positively with customers, site operators, and external organisations. Working flexibly across the region, including participation in a weekend rota (1 in 12). What we're looking for: Essential 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths, English and a Science subject (Grade C/4 or above) . Experience managing workloads and meeting deadlines. Good geographical knowledge of the South West. Excellent attention to detail and the ability to follow procedures precisely. Confidence using MS Office and learning new systems. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently while staying connected to the wider team. Full UK Driving Licence. Desirable A Level (or equivalent) in a science subject. Experience in a scientific or operational environment. Understanding of ISO 9001 or ISO 17025 requirements. Commitment to continuous development and team collaboration.
