Test Piece Technician / Test Operator Competitive + OT Temp to perm Welwyn Garden City Days Only Mon-Fri whilst training, then 6am-2pm Monday - Friday gap technical are proud to be representing this manufacturing business in their search for a Test Piece Technician to work at their facility based near Welwyn Garden City Performance Objectives Responsible for ensuring strict quality and control of Parts presented to Lab for Testing Work planning responsibilities in conjunction with Line Manager and site Monthly plan. The role utilises The Pillar Drill, Fly Press and Cressex Press and small hand tools. Maintaining correct legible records is a must. Experience in using measuring equipment, department technology and software. Some basic self-inspection required Ability to use tools safely and accurately and work in a safe manner with respect to others around you. Responsible for ensuring work carried out in accordance with company procedures and maintenance of good working practices, including housekeeping and maintenance. Comply with all company Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) requirements. Read and understand the requirements on the Job Card for the operation to be carried out. Ensure that all the documentation required to carry out the operation in accordance with the Job Card is available at the point of use and at the correct revision. Read and understand all manufacturing instructions prior to commencing an operation, this includes Machine and Tooling Set Up Packs as required, Engineering Drawings, Data Cards, Inspection Plans etc. Use of all measuring equipment as defined within Inspection Plans to check conformance to requirements. Carry out in process inspection in accordance with relevant inspection plans to ensure that components are conforming prior to passing on to subsequent operations. Ensure that components identified as non-conforming during in process inspection are identified and communicated in accordance with the Non-Conformance Procedure. Complete all work booking requirements within the MRP system to ensure accurate WIP records. Follow work handling and storage instructions to prevent damage to components. Support Root Cause Analysis activities when non-conformance occurs to prevent reoccurrence. Carry out and record all TPM activities in accordance with the specified schedule for the equipment being operated. Ensure that work areas are tidy, cleaned and maintained in accordance with 5S requirements. Engage and contribute to Continuous Improvement activities to maximise efficiency. Comply with all company procedures and policies. Person Specification Proven knowledge of Health & Safety requirements relating to polishing and spraying machines. Proven knowledge of Inspection procedures & standards. Good interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain excellent working relationships with both immediate team members and other production teams. IT proficiency with the ability to input and retrieve data.
