ROYAL BOROUGH OF KENSINGTON AND CHELSEA
Kensington And Chelsea, London
Bring energy, care and creativity to the start of a child's journey Bring energy, care and creativity to the start of a child's journey As an Early Years Practitioner, you'll help shape a child's first experiences of learning, friendship and play. You'll be part of a team that brings joy and support to children and their families every single day - creating safe, engaging spaces where every child is seen, supported and given the chance to flourish. Working Style: You'll be based in the Borough for five days a week, playing a key role in serving the local community. Whether you're working on the frontline or behind the scenes, you'll be part of a dedicated team making a real difference to residents' lives. What you'll be doing: You'll join a close-knit, caring team, working with children aged 0-5 in one of our community nurseries. No two days look the same - you might be building a fort, comforting someone after a tough drop-off, or helping a child find the words to express how they're feeling. You'll support the team in planning fun, engaging activities that help children learn through play, indoors and outside. You'll be hands-on throughout the day - changing nappies, preparing snacks, encouraging independence and celebrating every new milestone, however small. You'll also be a key person for a small group of children, getting to know them and their families so you can respond to what they need - whether that's extra support, reassurance, or simply someone who remembers their favourite story. Inclusivity is a big part of our nurseries. You'll help make sure every child, including those with additional needs, feels welcome, understood and able to take part in their own way. This is a fast-paced role, sometimes noisy and messy, often full of laughter and always focused on helping children feel secure, curious and cared for. For further details, please review the Job Description and Person Specification. What you'll bring: You'll need a minimum Level 2 Childcare Qualification recognised by the Department for Education - and ideally some experience working in an early years setting. More than anything, we're looking for someone who brings warmth, patience and energy to the role. You'll be great at working in a team, open to learning and ready to adapt to what each day brings. You'll also be confident building relationships with parents and carers - listening, sharing updates and working together to support each child. It's important that you have a good understanding of child development, especially for two-year-olds and vulnerable groups and are familiar with the EYFS and safeguarding guidance. A DBS check and First Aid training (or willingness to complete it) are essential. Why join us At RBKC, we're all in - investing in our people, our communities and our future. You'll be joining a supportive and experienced team who've worked together for years. There's a real sense of trust and encouragement here, new ideas are always welcomed. You'll have plenty of opportunities to learn and grow, with access to regular training and support to help you develop your skills or take on new responsibilities. Whether you're hoping to become a Room Leader or deepen your understanding of child development, we'll help you get there. You're confident negotiating sensitive and sometimes competing demands, and you're a clear communicator - equally comfortable advising applicants, leading meetings, or writing detailed, well-reasoned reports. Most importantly, you'll have a strong commitment to sustainable development and a passion for making great places. Why join us: At RBKC, we're all in - investing in our people, our communities and our future. You'll join an experienced and highly respected team that values collaboration, learning and shared problem-solving. This is a chance to work on some of the most prestigious and challenging heritage projects in the country - in a borough where your knowledge and judgement will genuinely shape what's possible. You'll work in a hybrid way, spending three days a week in the office, with the flexibility and autonomy to manage your time. You'll also be part of a council that's committed to investing in your professional growth - offering space to lead, develop your practice, and influence how we work across the service. Interview Details: Interviews will be held week commencing 28th July 2025. There will be a short assessment as part of the selection process, and all necessary details will be provided ahead of the interview if required. About us: Kensington and Chelsea is home to diverse communities, thriving businesses and unique local places. Everything we do is focused on supporting our residents, strengthening our approach and creating a fairer borough. As a competent and caring Council, we take pride in our work every day, ensuring our services are delivered with care and competence. We listen to our residents, act with integrity and work together to build a borough that is greener, safer and fairer for all. This is a role for someone who enjoys complexity and takes ownership. Someone who thrives in conversation - and in action. You'll be part of a borough that's known for its history, but unafraid to evolve. And you'll help lead that evolution with clarity, care and integrity. Ready to join us? We're all in - are you? If you share our values and have the skills to contribute, we'd love to hear from you. Please apply online explaining how you meet the requirements set out in the person specification and job description. We reserve the right to extend or close this vacancy early without warning subject to the volume of suitable applicants. We are committed to promoting equality and respecting diversity and welcome applications from all sections of the community. We are a Disability Confident Employer - committed to ensuring that our recruitment and selection process is inclusive and accessible.
Protect what makes us iconic - and help shape what comes next. As a Design and Heritage Officer, you'll help make sure our past is protected - and our future thoughtfully shaped. Working Style: You'll be working in the Borough, playing a key role in serving the local community. Whether you're working on the frontline or behind the scenes, you'll be part of a dedicated team making a real difference to residents' lives. What you'll be doing: Our team is expanding and with us, you'll get stuck into the detail of some of the most architecturally significant places in the UK. From listed buildings and conservation areas to hidden corners and high-profile landmarks, you'll assess proposals, visit sites, and give expert advice to make sure every change fits its context - and adds to the story of the borough. You'll focus on conservation, yes - but this isn't about freezing things in time. It's about working collaboratively to find thoughtful, sustainable ways to retrofit historic buildings, enable quality design, and balance heritage with progress. That might mean reviewing a plan to upgrade a 19th-century home with green technology, or helping shape a development that sits beside a national landmark. You'll write reports, provide advice, and contribute to planning decisions that will have a lasting impact. No two days are the same - and every day, your work will help protect the character that makes Kensington and Chelsea so distinctive. For further details, click here to review the Job Description and Person Specification . What you'll bring: You'll bring a degree in conservation, planning, architecture, or urban design - along with a passion for heritage, a good understanding of design, and a strong sense of how to work sensitively within a historic urban context. Maybe you've already had some experience in a local authority or conservation setting. Maybe you've studied listed buildings and planning policy and are ready to apply that knowledge in practice. Either way, you'll be someone who's confident communicating your ideas, enjoys problem-solving, and can balance the details with the bigger picture. We're looking for someone who's collaborative, curious and ready to learn. You'll care deeply about sustainability and place, and want to make a real contribution to a borough that's rich in history - and full of potential. Why join us: At RBKC, we're all in - investing in our people, our communities and our future. You'll join a welcoming, experienced group of colleagues who support each other and value your contribution. This is a chance to work on some of the UK's most recognisable buildings and townscapes, in a role where you'll grow fast, be trusted early, and see the impact of your work every day. Offering support to people in their own homes In Kensington and Chelsea, we support people's independence and wellbeing, and work hard to enable them to live in the community with dignity, choice and control. The service aims to complete 95% of all carer's assessment within the financial year and has an excellent record of achieving this target. ILA's are also a very important part of our team structures and complete a variety of tasks. The ILA post is a perfect opportunity for newly qualified Social Workers and OT's to gain more experience working in Adult Social Care. The Role: Working closely with our Occupational Therapists and Social Workers, you'll carry out basic assessments of people's capabilities and help them find the motivation and support to progress. By getting to know people as individuals and understanding their specific circumstances, you'll deliver person-centred care. Expect to manage your own caseload of service users, for whom you'll recommend equipment, and set and monitor goals and complete care act 2014 assessments. You'll also be alert to risks and to the need to involve other professionals. Although we'll offer you the chance to work independently, you'll have the full support of our close-knit community team. About You: This is an ideal career development role for someone who is interested in a career in social care or occupational therapy, as it has the potential to lead to an apprenticeship and/or professional qualifications. You're likely to have some relevant experience that's given you an insight into issues around ageing and disability: you might have worked with a relevant charity, or perhaps as an OT Assistant or housing support worker. Well-organised and responsible, you'll need strong communication skills and a willingness to learn and work as part of a team. Although we'll provide full training in systems and processes, good Maths and English and some IT skills will be an excellent foundation. In return, you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme and generous annual leave plus bank holidays. Please apply online explaining how you meet the requirements set out in the person specification and job description. CV's will not be considered for this role.
