Our client is a Local Authority in Essex that require just 1 day per week office presence. They are offering a minimum 6 month contract in their Strategic Planning Team; the rate will be at least £50/hr (umbrella). Key Accountabilities Lead and contribute to the development of planning policy documents, including the emerging Local Plan and Supplementary Planning Documents. Undertake research, surveys, and monitoring activities to support evidence-based policy development. Represent the Council in cross-boundary and partnership working. Prepare briefs for consultants and oversee delivery of commissioned work. Liaise with stakeholders, developers, and landowners to inform policy development. Prepare and present evidence for committee meetings and public examinations. Given the nature of this role we need a candidate with previous experience of Local Plan development. Given the seniority of this post we are looking for a Member or Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. You must be able to demonstrate significant experience in senior leadership roles, ideally gained with a Local Authority. It is absolutely essential that you have a detailed knowledge of Landlord & Tenant legislation and property valuation including s18 valuations for negotiating schedules of dilapidation, adhering to RICS Valuations Standards or equivalent. The role will be offered for 3-6 months to start with and will pay £550/day (inside IR35).
