Communications Engineer Supervisor Location: Hillingdon (Fully On-Site) Contract: Minimum Six months Rate: 250 Per Day - Inside IR35 I am working with one of the world's largest solutions companies who have an outstanding reputation for delivering complex technology and infrastructure projects across major UK transport hubs and I have a contract opportunity for an experienced Communications Engineer Supervisor to lead the installation and delivery of network infrastructure within one of the busiest airports in Europe. This is a site-based role, working days and nights as required where you will oversee teams installing and testing physical infrastructure as well as active network equipment across a busy, high-security environment. The position calls for someone who is technically capable, safety-conscious, and confident managing people on the ground whilst also support with the hands on installation work. Responsibilities Supervising and supporting engineers carrying out installation works across multiple sites Delivering daily activity briefings (NABS/DABS) and completing point-of-work risk assessments Producing accurate end-of-shift reports and updates to senior engineers Promoting and enforcing a strong health and safety culture at all times Ensuring working areas are safe, tidy, and compliant with project standards Liaising with other contractors to clarify scope and prevent overlap or conflict Checking all tools and equipment are inspected and certified before use Leading on installation tasks including: Pulling, dressing, and terminating CAT6, voice, and fibre cabling Installing containment systems (tray, basket, conduit) Terminating and testing panels, outlets, and fibre using Fluke DSX and OTDR Splicing multicore fibre (Fujikura 60s/70s experience preferred) Performing patching, fault finding, and verification testing Identifying and escalating H&S or implementation risks in a timely manner Conducting on-site surveys and compiling survey documentation Experience Required A strong background in structured cabling - including CAT6, network cabling, fibre optics, and CCTV cabling - with hands-on experience of testing, terminations, and containment systems Proven experience supervising IT or communications infrastructure projects in complex, live environments (aviation or rail preferred) A proactive, organised, and safety-led mindset with strong communication skills SSSTS certification (mandatory) Flexibility to work day or night shifts as required Preferred (but not essential): PASMA, IPAF, Working at Height, Confined Space, and Asbestos Awareness.
