We seek a knowledgeable and skilled professional who is confident, dependable, detail-oriented, and proactive. The ideal candidate should hold FIA qualifications or an equivalent certification and have a solid understanding of current British Standards. This role requires expertise in fire detection systems, emergency lighting, intruder alarms, CCTV, and access control. The successful applicant must be able to work independently, adhering to SSAIB and BAFE industry regulations.Additionally if the candidate has experience working with Fire Extinguishers it would be a bonus! This is an independently owned company specializing in the design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of fire and security systems. A position has become available for a Fire Commissioning Engineer in London and surrounding areas. The successful candidate will be responsible for commissioning and testing fire alarm and life safety systems in compliance with industry standards and regulations. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong technical background and excellent problem-solving skills. Over the years, the company has expanded its services beyond fire alarms to include a comprehensive range of security solutions, so if the candidate works with security this would be a bonus but not essential. This company serves diverse clientele, including commercial offices, residential buildings, industrial complexes, cinemas and hotels. Key Responsibilities: Carry out the installation and commissioning of fire alarms and other life safety systems to a high standard, ensuring compliance with relevant BS regulations. Possess a strong understanding of installation processes and fire alarm regulations as outlined by BAFE. Have a solid knowledge of commissioning various fire alarm panels. Be open to working on other disciplines and making an effort to find solutions, even if they are not your area of expertise. While expertise in other fields is not required, a willingness to try is valued. Demonstrate a proactive attitude toward learning by seeking guidance from more experienced engineers there s no such thing as a silly question. Provide technical support to colleagues, including engineers and office staff, who may have less experience with the systems in use. Maintain clear communication with the office regarding availability for extra work or any delays. Complete all necessary administrative tasks each week, such as SimPRO timesheets, van check sheets, and return-to-work forms. Keep the van stocked with essential items such as fixings, cables, containment, and ensure fire alarm equipment is maintained at required levels. Stay organized by keeping track of parts needed for upcoming jobs and notifying the office if any are missing. Ensure all tools and equipment are properly maintained and safe for use. Requirements: Proven experience as a Fire Commissioning Engineer or similar role within the fire and security industry. Strong knowledge of fire alarm systems (e.g., GENT, Siemens, Advanced, Notifer, Ziton, Kentec, etc.) Must be willing to travel and work in London In-depth understanding of British Standards (BS 5839) and other relevant fire safety regulations. Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics.
