About the Role The Chief Mechanical Engineer is a hands-on dynamic role that will ensure our historic venue runs smoothly. You'll be a supportive team player with strong technical skills, overseeing maintenance, repairs and inspections while helping ensure we're event-ready around the clock. Key responsibilities Ensure mechanical systems across site are compliant Supervise and monitor subcontractors and third-party suppliers, delivering safety briefings and site inductions Deliver a structured repair and maintenance program by appropriately scheduling inspections and testing Act as the responsible person for water hygiene for the property Maintain accurate documentation of all assigned work orders provide support to the engineers assisting with the installation and maintenance of mechanical services Proactively report any maintenance and Health and Safety issues through logging system, Halo. Support maintenance issues on nominated live events Participate in out of hours on call and emergency call out roster Essential Level 3 NVQ or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering / Building Services or proof of pathway of recognised apprenticeship water hygiene / Legionella awareness training certificate L8 Legionella awareness Extensive mechanical engineering experience or in similar field Familiarity with CAFM systems Experience working in a Grade II listed building and able to apply a conservation-led and heritage-sensitive approach Strong communication skills with the ability to talk to people at different levels and brief subcontractors This is not an exhaustive list.
