Our client is a successful, privately owned SME operating across multiple sites within a specialist operational sector. The business has built a strong reputation within its market and is entering an exciting new phase of development. Following the planned departure of the current Finance Director, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Financial Controller to lead the finance function and work closely with the business owners to support the continued growth and development of the organisation. Additional Information Office based role, five days per week Occasional travel to a second operational site will be required (currently around once per week, likely reducing over time) A comprehensive handover will be provided by the outgoing Finance Director Indicative timeline: Start date ideally in September 2026 Opportunity to play a key role within a successful and growing owner-managed business Role Description Reporting directly to the owners, the Financial Controller will take overall responsibility for the day-to-day finance function whilst managing a small, established team of five. This is a broad and hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys operating within an SME environment, combining strong financial control with commercial awareness and operational involvement. The successful candidate will be expected to operate confidently at both strategic and operational levels, remaining hands-on whilst acting as a trusted adviser to the business owners. The finance function is well established, with robust processes, systems and reporting already in place. The successful candidate will focus on maintaining and enhancing existing systems, controls and reporting, rather than building the function from scratch. Key Responsibilities Lead, manage and develop a finance team of five Production and review of monthly management accounts and reporting to the owners Ownership of budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management Ensure the integrity of financial controls and reporting processes across all entities Oversee audit, statutory accounts and tax compliance, working with external auditors Manage relationships with external auditors, banks, insurers/brokers and professional advisers Oversee payroll processes (in-house, weekly and monthly payroll cycles) Support commercial decision making through insightful financial analysis Drive continuous improvement in reporting, processes and systems Work closely with operational management to improve business performance Support the ongoing development of Power BI and management reporting capability, building on the current Excel-based reporting suite Candidate Requirements We are seeking a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with previous experience operating in a Financial Controller, Head of Finance or Senior Finance Manager capacity within an SME environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate: Strong SME finance leadership experience (typically within a £10m-£50m turnover business) Experience managing and developing a small finance team Excellent management accounting and financial reporting skills, with personal involvement in producing management accounts Advanced Excel capability, including complex linked workbooks, macros, pivot tables and management reporting models Experience with, or strong interest in, Power BI and reporting system development Strong commercial awareness and business partnering skills The ability to operate both strategically and hands-on Confidence working directly with business owners and senior stakeholders A proactive, pragmatic, 'roll up your sleeves' approach to problem solving Experience improving reporting processes and introducing new technologies (including AI) would be advantageous Experience within manufacturing, logistics, distribution, construction, engineering, waste or other operationally-focused businesses would be advantageous, although not essential.

We are working with our growing SME business, near Bishops Stortford, to find a new Finance Manager. The company operates in a fast-paced environment and is seeking an experienced, hands-on Finance Manager to strengthen financial control, improve reporting, and support ongoing growth. This would suit a Finance Manager who enjoys being close to the numbers and driving process improvement. You'll take ownership of day-to-day finance operations while partnering closely with the MD and wider leadership team to provide clear insight into performance and profitability. The role will be required on site with the potential for 1 day per week hybrid following probation. Assignment Details Full ownership of day-to-day finance (ledgers, bank recs, payroll) Monthly management accounts, cashflow forecasting and variance analysis Improving systems, controls and reporting Working closely with the MD and external accountants Budgeting, forecasting and year-end support Commercial insight and support to the business Reviewing invoicing, job costing and project profitability Ensuring compliance across VAT, PAYE etc Skills Required Qualified or QBE accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent). Strong technical grounding with an appetite for hands-on involvement. Proven experience in an SME or owner-managed business environment. Commercially focused, proactive, and comfortable driving change. Excellent systems skills (e.g. Xero, Sage, or similar) and confident with Excel reporting. Collaborative, pragmatic, and confident working directly with senior stakeholders.

FP&A Associate £50,000 - £60,000 + benefits Remote (UK) with occasional travel to London (approx. 1 day per week) We are working with a fast-growing, investor-backed business to recruit an FP&A Associate into a high-impact finance team. This is a broad and commercially focused role, sitting at the centre of financial planning, analysis and strategic decision-making. You will work closely with senior stakeholders, supporting budgeting, forecasting and performance reporting across the business. The Role This position will focus on delivering clear financial insight to support decision-making at Executive and Board level, alongside maintaining and developing key financial models and reporting. Key areas include: Financial planning, budgeting and forecasting Building and maintaining complex financial models Performance analysis and reporting KPI tracking and dashboard development Business partnering with senior stakeholders Supporting strategic and commercial decision-making Key Responsibilities Own and maintain the long-range financial model, including scenario planning, debt structures and investor returns Support the annual budgeting process and quarterly reforecasting cycles Produce monthly management reporting with clear variance analysis and commentary Develop and enhance financial models to support the wider finance function Deliver weekly and monthly KPI reporting Provide ad hoc commercial analysis to support business performance and growth About You You will be a strong analytical finance professional who enjoys working with data and translating it into meaningful insight. Experience: 3-5 years' experience in FP&A, corporate finance or a similar role Experience building and maintaining complex financial models (P&L, cash flow, balance sheet) Exposure to budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis Experience of business partnering with non-finance stakeholders Skills: Advanced Excel and financial modelling capability Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Clear and confident communication, able to present to senior stakeholders High attention to detail with a commercial mindset Qualifications: ACA / ACCA / CIMA (or equivalent) preferred or part qualified Funding in place to pay for remaining study / exams Additional Information Primarily remote role with occasional travel to London (typically max 1 day per week) Opportunity to work in a high-growth, fast-paced environment Exposure to senior leadership and strategic decision-making
