About the team Our vision is to meet the needs of young people who face challenges in education, their community or home life, to ensure a successful transition to adulthood. Hertfordshire County Council Services for Young People (SfYP) supports young people to achieve their potential by delivering high-quality youth work, careers education, information, advice and guidance, as well as work-related learning and work experience opportunities. We review and maintain Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) for young people aged 16 and over, ensuring they receive the support they need post year 11. The service works in schools, colleges, community venues and young people's centres, using a variety of approaches and methods during the day, evenings and weekends. About the role Responsible for a multi-disciplinary team of Careers Education IAG Advisers, Youth Workers, EHCP Coordinators, Employment Training Advisers, and other professionals across Stevenage and North Herts. You will have strong recent and relevant operational performance management experience and skills and a proven track record of developing a culture of high performance and achievement, at pace. As a member of the senior leadership team, you will have countywide strategic lead responsibilities for one or more service priority areas. In addition to core funded work, the team delivers contracted services in schools and colleges such as careers guidance and work-related learning. You will be required to show strong leadership; be innovative, flexible, motivational, have good attention to detail, work at speed, and can engage and negotiate with a wide range of partners from schools / colleges, employers / businesses, district / borough councils, the voluntary sector, other education providers and elected members. About you Essential: JNC qualified or Level 6 Careers Guidance qualified. Strong leadership and current successful operational performance management experience Thrive in a fast-moving multidisciplinary environment - successfully achieving deadlines, at pace. HCC Services for Young People provides informal education / youth work, careers education information advice guidance, work related learning, work experience and the review and maintenance of education health and care plans for young people post-16 / post school. Our vision for young people is clear. We want young people to succeed, and by working for us you'll be key to enable this to happen. We work with vulnerable young people to address emerging needs, improve life chances, and reduce escalation to more expensive and intensive services. This includes supporting those facing challenges in formal education, their community or home life - to ensure a successful transition to adulthood. Young people are typically 11-17 and up to 25 for Care Leavers and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. You'll be delivering important targeted work including evening group work projects, supporting those missing from education to reengage successfully back into school or college and work with young people with SEND. You would be giving young people support at an early stage, preventing their issues from seriously affecting their daily life, health, development, or safety. We are looking for candidates who can quickly establish positive relationships with diverse groups of young people and respond flexibly to their needs and the priorities of the service. About you You'll either need a nationally recognised JNC qualification or the ability to complete the qualification. Recent experience of working with young people. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to plan and prioritise your workload. Ability to work 37 hours a week including regular evenings. in line with JNC terms and conditions. Confident in using ICT. Previous line management experience is desirable. Full UK driving licence & regular access to a vehicle. If you do not already hold a JNC qualification, we will fully fund your qualification - you'll start with us as a trainee on £29,644 to £33,066 per annum. Where we are funding your JNC qualification, the funding is repayable if you leave within two years of post-qualification.
