The Neighbourhood Officer?role: We have an exciting opportunity for a number of people to join our Neighbourhood service as Neighbourhood Officers ! We are currently looking for three permanent postholders and one fixed-term postholder. You ll be joining us at a really exciting time as we re on an ambitious transformation journey to make sure we have the right resources and people to fulfil our vision: Creating great homes and communities with the people of Barnsley. As part of this key front-line post, you ll deliver a proactive practical and visible customer focused tenancy and estate management service, to make a real difference to our customers and the communities that we manage. Key duties and responsibilities of our Neighbourhood Officer: Delivering a highly visible, effective & proactive tenancy & neighbourhood management service Dealing with or escalate all breaches of tenancy regulations in a timely manner and in line with thresholds and procedures, including Anti-Social Behaviour within relevant timescales using support or enforcement interventions and services as required Responsible for the day to day patch based void management of properties and work with partners and teams to ensure properties are let as soon as possible to achieve key performance targets. Providing a welcome visit to new tenants within agreed timescales to communicate the required obligations, offering practical support and advice and signpost where needed Identifying customer vulnerability including safeguarding concerns by the completion of support checklists, risk assessments and appropriate interventions, at sign up or as soon as potential issues become apparent Working with the Lettings Service regarding the assessment of applications to the Housing Waiting List and effective operation of the Lettings Policy, to ensure the best use of housing stock and sustainability of local communities Working with community groups and representatives to agree local priorities in the area (e.g., Tenants and Resident Associations, Your Community, Your Say groups, Tenant Voice Panel.) Providing low level support and make appropriate referrals to services within Berneslai Homes or to external support providers within agreed timescales under the direction of the Neighbourhood Team Leader What we re looking for in our Neighbourhood Officer: NVQ Level 3 / BTEC National Certificate or equivalent or relevant experience / transferable skills. The ability to communicate with residents and colleagues effectively Experience of social housing, including estate management and tenancy management or community safety related work. Demonstrate a positive attitude and ability to look for solutions and opportunities in a changing environment Experience of working with software applications including Microsoft office and bespoke IT Systems What you might be asking is, why work for us? The Income Assistant role: We have an exciting opportunity for an Income Assistant to join our Income team! As one of our Income Assistants, you'll play a key role in providing a responsive income management, information and advisory service that is supportive to our customer needs and aids the sustainment of tenancies. Key duties and responsibilities of our Income Assistant: Provide a responsive and non-judgemental service to customers enquiries or concerns on rental issues. Complete tenancy checks and update the national database in accordance with the requirements of the Audit Commission tenancy fraud initiative. Create rent and sundry accounts within the housing management IT software to ensure payments can be processed. Advise and support internal services on rental issues in order to provide an effective customer and estate management service. Be pro-active in the prevention and control of former tenants arrears by taking prompt recovery action in line with our policies and procedures. What we re looking for in our Income Assistant: 4GCSEs Grade 4 or above (A-C Grade) or equivalent, or relevant experience. A positive, flexible approach to team working.
