The Role Based at our modern Head Office in Huddersfield, this a fantastic opportunity for a Building Surveyor/Contract Administrator to join our growing Contract Administration Team made up of Building Surveyors, Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers of varying experience from university graduates to more senior qualified professionals. Candidates should be both a team player with determination to drive projects forwards whilst also having the ability to work independently to achieve results. It is envisaged that the successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years' relevant post degree experience and will be either Chartered or intending to sit their final assessment at the next sitting. You will enjoy a varied workload including the opportunity to act as Contract Administrator, preparation of specifications and schedules of work, site inspections, quality management, attending site meetings, cost control, design co-ordination, CDM Consultant/Principal Designer duties, Party Wall Act surveys and property surveys. In addition to the operational aspects, you will hold some line management and mentoring responsibilities for more junior members of the team. Key operational/Project management duties including: Understanding our agreed scope of services/project briefs. Building and maintaining brilliant relationships with various clients Manage all aspects of project communication including administration activities such as issuing notices and certificates Manage contractors on site via visits and project meetings Plan resource needs against project programme and deliverables. Ensure Quality Assurance procedures are followed, including key deliverables at each Stage. Ensure project issues are dealt with in a timely manner, to the client's satisfaction. Maintain regular communication with Team Leaders and Project Director to provide updates on project progress and fee expenditure. Ideal Candidate: RICS or CIOB accredited construction degree 5 years post qualification experience, ideally in both new build & refurbishment projects Proven technical & providing similar services in your current role Experience in managing teams providing guidance, mentoring and leadership skills to less experienced staff members Confident communicator & experienced in client facing roles Managing the client relationship and service delivery on a project by project basis. The Role We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Architectural Technician to join our growing team. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years' post-qualification experience and a strong background in the design, technical development, coordination, and delivery of residential refurbishment projects including high-rise residential buildings. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of challenging projects, from complex refurbishment and regeneration schemes to large-scale residential developments. Key Responsibilities Prepare and develop detailed technical drawings, specifications, and construction documentation. Produce coordinated working drawing packages for planning, building regulations, tender, and construction stages. Develop technical detailing solutions for residential refurbishment and high-rise residential projects. Coordinate with structural engineers, MEP consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders. Ensure compliance with current Building Regulations, planning requirements, and relevant British Standards. Support project delivery from concept through to completion. Participate in site inspections, surveys, and construction reviews. Identify and resolve technical and construction-related issues. Assist in managing project programmes and deliverables to meet deadlines. Contribute to quality assurance processes and technical reviews. Requirements Essential Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in Architectural Technology or a related discipline. Minimum 5 years' post-qualification experience within the UK construction industry. Proven experience working on residential refurbishment projects. Strong technical knowledge and experience detailing high-rise residential buildings. Excellent understanding of UK Building Regulations and construction methods. Experience producing detailed construction and technical drawing packages. Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit. Strong coordination and communication skills. Ability to manage workload effectively and work independently as well as part of a team. Desirable CIAT membership or working towards Chartered status. Experience with Building Safety Act requirements and Gateway submissions. Knowledge of fire safety regulations and façade detailing for high-rise residential developments. Experience of BIM processes and common data environments. We would also consider Architects, Pt 2 qualified looking to attain their Pt 3 in the next 6 months with a good technical knowledge that meet the above requirements. The Role With a salary up to £25,000 and based at our modern Head Office in Huddersfield this is a fantastic opportunity to join our Asset Management Team as a Surveying Technician to undertake a variety of challenging and 'hands on' surveying projects throughout the UK. The role involves the inspection and assessment of residential properties, including Non-Traditional properties and high-rise blocks. The work you will undertake will confirm the constructed form, identify defects and enable our clients to adequately plan property management for the future. Assessments are usually of an invasive nature and will involve the use of hand & power tools to open up the fabric of a building. This enables the collection of information on the buildings construction and condition to enable the Project Manager to produce reports. You will also be trained in the use of specialist concrete testing equipment to take samples of concrete and undertake on site testing of structural components. This is an excellent opportunity to specialise in working with buildings of non-standard construction whilst working alongside Chartered Surveyors Ideal Candidate: Qualities required for this role will include: Full, clean driving licence Studying on construction related course (would consider applicants currently on day release) would be beneficial. A 'can do' attitude and excellent work ethic. A drive to succeed in a challenging environment. A willingness to work in a team environment. Willingness to work throughout the UK Due to the varied locations of projects, staying away overnight will be required on a regular basis. The projects vary in size and scale, and range between large scale new build residential developments to complex recladding schemes of high-rise tower blocks and fire safety works under the new Building Safety Act.
