Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Edge Bander Operator to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating edge banding machinery to apply decorative edging to panels and boards, ensuring high-quality finishes and efficient production flow. You will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining the edge banding machinery to produce high-quality finished panels to specification. This role is essential to the smooth running of the joinery production process, ensuring consistent accuracy, finish, and efficiency in line with company standards to contribute directly to delivering top-tier products that meet customer specifications. Duties Machine Operation: Set up and operate automatic edge banding machines (e.g., Homag, SCM, Holz-Her, or similar). Apply edging materials (ABS, PVC, veneer, melamine) to panels according to drawings or production schedules. Ensure correct machine parameters for thickness, feed speed, and trimming are maintained. Quality Control: Check edge finish, adhesion, alignment, and trimming quality against design specifications. Identify and correct defects or inconsistencies. Maintain a clean, precise edge finish with attention to detail. Maintenance & Safety: Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and blade changes as per the maintenance schedule. Report machine faults or breakdowns promptly to the maintenance team. Follow all company Health & Safety and environmental procedures. Production Support: Read and interpret technical drawings and cutting lists. Work collaboratively with CNC operators, assemblers, and finishers to maintain workflow. Record production data, material usage, and wastage accurately. Skills & Experience Essential: Proven experience operating an edge banding machine in a joinery, furniture, or panel processing environment. Strong understanding of woodworking machinery, materials, and edge banding processes. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings. Good attention to detail and quality standards. Reliable, punctual, and capable of working independently or as part of a team. Desirable: Experience with Homag/SCM edge banders and PUR glue systems. Forklift licence. Basic maintenance and troubleshooting experience. Personal Attributes Methodical and quality-focused. Proactive with a strong sense of responsibility. Display By Design is a well-established UK manufacturer specialising in retail displays, point-of-sale, shopfitting and bespoke interiors. Due to continued growth, we are looking for a practical and reliable Vinyl/Membrane Press Operator & Assembly Operative to join our production team. This is a dual-role position, combining the operation of our vinyl/membrane press with general assembly work across a wide variety of retail display and bespoke manufacturing projects. The role would suit someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in producing a quality finish and is comfortable working across different areas of production. Key Responsibilities Operating the vinyl/membrane press to apply vinyl finishes to manufactured components. Preparing components prior to pressing, including checking surfaces and materials. Loading, setting and operating the press safely and efficiently. Inspecting finished components to ensure they meet our quality standards. Trimming and finishing vinyl-covered components where required. Assembling retail display units, furniture and other manufactured products. Using hand tools and basic power tools as part of the assembly process. Reading drawings, job sheets and assembly instructions. Checking components and finished products for quality and accuracy. Packing and preparing completed products for delivery where required. Working closely with other members of the production team to meet deadlines. Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working area. What We're Looking For Previous experience operating a vinyl press, membrane press or similar manufacturing equipment would be advantageous, although training can be provided for someone with the right practical skills and attitude. You should be: Practical and confident working with your hands. Able to work accurately and pay close attention to detail. Quality focused and take pride in your work. Comfortable using hand and power tools. Able to work independently as well as part of a team. Reliable, punctual and willing to learn. Flexible and happy to work across different areas of production when required. Experienced within furniture, joinery, retail display, shopfitting or a similar manufacturing environment would be an advantage.
