The Business We're an AI-native, human-led business built to help clients reimagine, reinvent, and lead their markets into the AI era. We bring the imagination, intellect and market insight, execution smarts, and adaptive approach to collaboration required to help leaders deliver real change. We work with clients in four closely interdependent markets: central Government, including departments, agencies, and strategic, commercial suppliers; health and care, including national bodies, trusts, place-based partners, and commercial and digital suppliers; education, including national bodies, awarding organisations, and front-line institutions; and, the FTSE - principally leveraging our expertise in AI and associated capability building. Through A WORKS we collaborate with thought leaders, innovators, and AI-specialist devs to build products which tackle the biggest problems we see in the markets we support - setting aside the consulting commercial model to work in whatever ways best solve the problem. For example, through Project Shybird, we're building an AI-powered platform and apps which reimagine the learning value chain: conducting broad and deep capability research, supporting rapid high-quality qualification and programme definition, enabling course design and content creation, personalisation of learning experiences - and new levels of insight for the future. We're a business powered by the passion, grit, insight, intellect, and execution-smarts of our people: a tightly knit team of experts, willing to challenge market convention, and our colleagues, in pursuit of the transformational change we believe is possible through the dawn of the AI era. The role We're looking for an experienced educationalist with the breadth and depth of expertise required to lead client and internal projects focussed on qualification, assessment, and learning design - in spaces including schools, vocational, higher education and apprenticeships - as well as, increasingly, the corporate / commercial learning and development space. Given the amount of client work we do in the awarding market, and the AI-led innovation work we are doing in that space through Project Shybird, the successful candidate must have a deep and practical understanding of qualification and assessment design for the UK education sector. Whilst primarily consulting-focussed, this role will include substantial collaboration with A Works colleagues to shape, build, and bring to market the suite of solutions we are creating through Project Shybird - which we believe can radically innovate the learning value chain. As such the successful candidate will likely have spent a substantial proportion of their career leading product development, qualification and / or assessment design projects in an awarding organisation or a professional body - or have demonstrable academic credentials in this space. In the role your responsibilities would include: Consulting engagements focussed on supporting clients to research market needs and define their product strategies - including awarding organisations, professional bodies, publicly-funded training providers, business schools, and corporate clients. Consulting engagements focussed on support ing clients to develop new and / or refine existing learning products (i.e. qualifications, assessments, course designs, and learning materials) through the provision of expert support and / or Project Shybird solutions. Consulting engagements focussed on helping clients to reimagine and transform their existing product development capabilities and functions to harness the potential of AI solutions - including not least the Project Shybird suite. Acting as the principal subject matter expert supporting the development of the Project Shybird suite - acting as the proxy 'business requirements' owner within the A Works team and facilitating additional expert input from your technical expert associate pool. Leading, maintaining, and managing Avencera' pool of associate technical experts, including qualification, assessment and learning design practitioners, and curriculum experts with experience working in the institutions we support and deliver value through. Support go-to-market efforts in the education and corporate learning markets - including the identification of and engagement with target clients; development of thought leadership pieces; and, acting as the technical expert in the room through sales processes. Person specification Deep expertise in qualification, assessment and / or learning design for education. Strong networks, and ability to engage authoritatively with target and existing clients. High levels of ambition, energy and resilience, consistent with the firm's plans for growth. Enjoyment working in an entrepreneurial, commercial, high-performance environment. Strong communication and presentation skills, internally and externally, at all levels. High levels of precision and presentational pride across all your work. Excellent technical writing and analytical skills. Working location At least two days per week in the firm's Farringdon office. Package Basic salary of £70,000 - £90,000 depending on expertise. Up to 20% bonus based on firm and individual performance. 27 days' annual leave, excluding bank holidays, rising to 30 based on performance. Private medical and dental insurance. 4% pension contributions.
