We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Management Accountant to join our growing Finance team. Supporting our multi-site retail shops and restaurants, you will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, producing management accounts, and providing valuable commercial insights to support business performance. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to further develop their management accounting career within a fast-paced retail and hospitality environment. Key Responsibilities Process, code and post supplier invoices accurately, ensuring correct allocation across multiple retail and restaurant sites. Perform supplier statement reconciliations, resolve invoice queries and maintain an accurate aged creditors ledger. Support the preparation of monthly management accounts, including accruals, prepayments and journal postings. Review site-level profit and loss reports, investigating variances against budgets and previous trading periods. Analyse gross profit and stock performance by working closely with General Managers and Head Chefs to identify cost variances, pricing issues and opportunities to improve profitability. Reconcile daily EPOS sales with cash, card receipts and third-party delivery platforms. Complete balance sheet reconciliations, including accounts payable control accounts and intercompany balances. Ensure financial records are accurate, deadlines are met and company policies and procedures are followed. About You To be successful in this role, you will have previous experience within a finance or accounts environment, with strong knowledge of purchase ledger, reconciliations and month-end processes. Experience working within hospitality, retail or leisure businesses would be highly advantageous. You will also have: A minimum of 2 3 years' experience in a finance role. Part-qualified CIMA or ACCA status, or be studying towards an AAT qualification. Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs. Experience using accounting software such as Xero, Sage or similar. Exposure to Dext, ApprovalMax or stock management systems would be beneficial. Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail. The confidence to communicate effectively with suppliers and operational managers. Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. An understanding of Health & Safety and Food Hygiene compliance within a retail or hospitality environment is desirable. What We Offer Competitive salary. About the Role We are looking for an experienced Fish & Meat Specialist to join our retail team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for fresh food and customer service. Experience preparing Japanese cuisine products, including sushi-grade fish, sashimi, nigiri, sukiyaki, and yakiniku cuts, is highly desirable. Key Responsibilities for Fish & Meat Specialist Prepare, trim, debone, fillet, portion and package fresh fish, seafood, poultry and meat products to company standards. Prepare sushi-grade fish and seafood safely and accurately for sushi, sashimi, nigiri and other Japanese dishes. Maintain attractive product displays, ensuring products remain fresh, well-stocked and correctly labelled throughout the trading day. Follow all food safety, HACCP, hygiene, traceability and temperature control procedures at all times. Receive deliveries, rotate stock using FIFO principles, monitor stock levels and minimise waste through effective stock management. Provide excellent customer service by offering product knowledge, preparation advice and cooking recommendations while handling special customer requests professionally. Safely operate knives, slicers, grinders, saws, scales and other equipment, ensuring all machinery is cleaned, maintained and used safely. Complete daily paperwork, legal compliance checks and other administrative duties while maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment. Carry out any other reasonable duties requested by your Manager or Supervisor. About You You will have previous experience working in a butcher, fishmonger, seafood counter or f resh food retail environment and be confident preparing fresh fish and meat products. You will have excellent knife skills, a strong understanding of food hygiene and health and safety, and the ability to work efficiently in a busy retail environment while delivering exceptional customer service. Experience preparing Japanese cuisine products and knowledge of HACCP and Food Hygiene regulations would be advantageous but are not essential, as full training will be provided.
