As you look around for a new role, you'll notice that there is a lot of sales roles, but not enough Business development roles. What's the difference? Business development is a strategic role. Identifying clients, building a plan and positioning the value proposition to that market. And Supporting functions like Internal Sales and Marketing, and basically giving the business a direction to find new clients and build on existing ones. This is the role of a BDM. This is the role we are currently recruiting. The business is a growing distributor of adhesives and protective materials, and the requisite application and curing equipment, to technology manufacturing companies in the UK and Ireland, including leading-edge companies in electronics, medical devices, aerospace and automotive, including F1. The company enjoys a very good reputation for its responsive, consultative sales approach. The key objective of this role is to identify potential customers, understand the needs of the customers within a specific market and ensure that the business can respond effectively with how to meet them. This can be done by generating leads from targeting new business opportunities within the existing customers as well as identifying the new business with the market. Close collaboration will be required with the marketing communications team, and the consultative sales teams, and also strategic business partners for whom we represent. Basically making you the core of the Business development for this company. It's a new role, no one is doing this role right now. It's a role you can quickly make yours. The important part though, and this will help you succeed in this role - This company is an expert in sealants and adhesives and associated auxiliaries with that product. It would be great if you came from that market - but its reasonable to say that this company really needs you to have experience in a technology-focused environment, within one of the key market segments - ie - electronics, medical devices, aerospace and automotive. There will be frequent opportunities for travel within the day for meetings with key customers and business partners as well as other market intelligence gathering opportunities such as trade shows, seminars, and conferences. In the first instance, the role will be research focused with a requirement to define the customer profile, understand the company's market share and opportunity, qualify the value proposition and conduct competitor analysis. Salary at the moment is around the £40-45K region, but if you fit this role, and your expectations are a bit higher than this, still reach out and apply. Let's chat. There is obviously a lot more to discuss around this role, feel free to reach out to me Mark Hopkins at Thomas Lee Recruitment (google me) - to have a conversation around the role and see if it's a direction you want to go in. Or just hit apply. All applications are answered.
