Barnet Council is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join the Adult Social Care Team . This full-time role focuses on delivering high-quality, person-centred functional assessments and interventions in line with the Care Act. You will work closely with multi-disciplinary colleagues, housing teams, and contractors to ensure safe, effective, and timely outcomes for service users. Job Title: Occupational Therapist - Adult Social Care Location: Barnet Rate: 39.93 per hour Contract Type: Full-Time (Mon-Fri) Working Pattern: 1 day per week in the office, with flexibility to attend additional days as required Key Responsibilities Complete comprehensive functional assessments in accordance with the Care Act. Participate in duty triaging and screening/signposting new referrals before adding them to the waiting list. Design and recommend major adaptations including level-access showers, stairlifts, ramps, and other bespoke solutions to promote independence. Prescribe and arrange minor and major equipment to meet individual needs. Undertake manual handling risk assessments and produce safe moving and handling plans. Liaise with contractors, housing services, and grants officers for adaptation works. Maintain accurate records and produce high-quality professional reports for funding applications and safeguarding processes. Main Accountabilities Deliver person-centred interventions within agreed timescales. Maintain compliance with legislation, safeguarding policies, and health and safety standards. Contribute to continuous service improvement and development. Represent Adult Social Care professionally within multi-disciplinary forums. Mandatory Experience HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist. Experience within community-based adult social care settings. Strong understanding of equipment provision, housing adaptations, and manual handling. Desirable Skills Knowledge of Disabled Facilities Grants (DFG) and adaptation legislation. Experience liaising with contractors and housing teams. Ability to use electronic case management systems.
