At Clark Optometrists in Kirkwall, Orkney, we offer a rare opportunity to join a long-established, family-run practice with over a century of trusted care and a genuine pathway toward partnership for the right person. Why this role is different In a single-practice island community like Orkney, we provide care across the full spectrum of patient needs. Our location means we play a key role in managing conditions locally, in close collaboration with supportive secondary-care specialists. This gives our optometrists a level of hands-on experience and clinical autonomy that's hard to find in more traditional settings. What truly sets the role apart, though, is the community itself. Our patients are warm, appreciative, and often families we've cared for across generations. That depth of trust and connection adds a uniquely rewarding dimension to the clinical work. It's an environment that builds deep clinical confidence, broad skillsets, and meaningful continuity of care. Where you see patients through from first visit to resolution. The work is both professionally stretching and personally fulfilling. Why Orkney? Life here moves at a gentler pace, but the community is vibrant. Orkney consistently ranks among the UK's best places to live, with excellent schools, thriving arts and culture, and an unbeatable sense of belonging. Whether you're drawn to sea views and wildlife, or to joining a friendly local sports club, there's space here to breathe and to build something long-term. What we offer £65,000 per annum (negotiable dependent on experience) £5,000 relocation bonus Accommodation provided for up to 12 months Access to modern diagnostic technology (including OCT) Flexible working options and generous testing times Pathway to partnership and professional development support If you're ready for a new chapter, where your expertise is valued, your input matters, and your community knows you by name, we'd love to chat.
