Overview Uckfield Town Council is the third tier of local government in our town. We serve Uckfield by maintaining green spaces, sports facilities, playgrounds and several buildings around the town, as well as supporting community activities through grants, activities we host ourselves and support from our Councillors. Opportunity We require volunteers to assist with stewarding Weald on the Field 2026. The free family festival takes place on Luxford Field on Saturday 8th August 2026, from 11am to 7pm. With over 1,000 visitors expected at the event, we need help with doing checks of the field, emptying bins, managing our car park, liaising with stallholders, and communicating any messages from attendees to the lead organisers. Shifts can range from two hours to the full eight hours of the festival. Responsibilities Assist with stewarding at the Weald on the Field 2026 festival (Luxford Field, Saturday 8 August 2026, 11am-7pm). Perform checks of the event area and help with crowd and safety management as directed. Empty bins and assist with general site cleanliness. Manage the car park and provide directions to attendees as needed. Liaise with stallholders and communicate any messages from attendees to the lead organisers. Convey shifts and operational information to volunteers and organisers. Requirements Volunteers must be over the age of 16. We are looking for people who are Uckfield-based, but volunteers based outside the town can have mileage payments discussed. Sheffield Park is a National Trust garden planted for dramatic impact celebrating the size and scale of the place. The 120-acre garden and lakes sit within the listed landscape. We are a small civil aviation themed Charity currently based at Beside the Beaten Tracks near Staple Cross. We are building a museum to show the history of civil aviation from the 1920's to today. About this opportunity We are looking for someone with experience in charity fundraising big and small, as we look to fund the growth of our museum. Currently, we are funding specifically for projects such as converting our Bae Jetstream 41 cockpit into a fully functioning simulator, as well as the general running of the museum as a whole. Volunteers will help with activities and provide support to young people, ensuring they have a positive experience. Heathfield Youth Hub is a free and safe space for young people aged 7 -17. We have a sports hall, sensory room, music room, art room and teaching kitchen, all available for young people to use during youth sessions. Sometimes young people need a place to go and something to do. We are here to support young people with whatever is on their mind. About this opportunity On the first Saturday of every month we run a youth session for 7-9 year olds from 9:30am - 1pm. This is a chance for young people from different schools to make new friends, take part in fun free activities and enjoy a healthy lunch. We are looking for volunteers who can help us to deliver this session. Whether you'd like to do well being activities in the sensory room, games in the sports hall, or help cook the lunch, we need kind, supportive and empathetic volunteers to help us run the session. Volunteers are asked to start at 9am to help with the set up, and once finished assist in clearing up which usually runs to 1:30pm.
