The Project Engineer (Fire Alarm, Electronic Security and Life Safety Systems) is to work on and assist with the day to day project management of a new Fire Detection and Alarm Systems Projects in the rail sector. With a sound knowledge and previous experience in the fire and security industry, you will ensure efficient project delivery and installation of challenging, fast paced rail projects. Responsibilities:- Ability to handle projects from enquiry to completion. Ability to manage a construction programme and report accordingly. To effectively manage the installation works on site whilst liaising with both sub-contractors and clients. Undertaking of relevant H & S duties ie safe starts, tool box talks etc. Liaise with manufacturing, design and other relevant departments to ensure timely delivery. Ability to highlight any problem areas ensuring they are effectively communicated to the relevant parties. Ensuring compliance with codes, practices, and specifications. To complete Quality Assurance documentation ensuring works are of the appropriate standard and report snags to sub-contractors. Ability to delegate tasks to team members. As part of the commercial team you will be responsible for the commercial, contractual, and financial management of construction projects. The role requires a good grasp of cost control and contractual obligations while supporting the delivery of profitable, well-managed projects. Typical Responsibilities: - Commercial Management Assist in the financial and contractual management of projects, including preparation of interim applications, cost forecasting, risk mitigation, issuing contractual notices, and agreement of final accounts. Project Cost Control Monitor and report on project expenditure, value of work done, and cashflow to ensure projects remain within budget and achieve expected margins. Subcontractor Management Manage subcontractor packages from procurement through to payment and final account, including valuations, variations, and cost reporting Client & Contract Administration Process client orders/contracts in line with company risk profiles, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with contractual obligations. Financial Reporting Work closely with the Finance Team to provide monthly cost/value reconciliations, cashflow forecasts, and profitability analysis. Site & Team Support Conduct regular site visits to support Project Teams with commercial and financial input. Participate in client meetings, subcontractor account meetings, and commercial reviews to support positive relationships and effective resolution of financial/commercial issues. Documentation & Compliance Ensure all commercial and financial records are completed accurately, securely stored, and made available to appropriate personnel in line with company procedures. Protec Camerfield Sprinkler & Water Mist Project Manager 35,000 - 55,000 (dependent on experience) Manchester/NW Protec Camerfield have an opportunity for a self-motivated individual who can manage all aspects of mechanical sprinkler or water mist suppression systems. The role requires a pro-active and pragmatic individual who can work alone and part of a team to collaborate with all relevant contributors for the design, supply, installation and commissioning of the systems with excellent communication and quality results to our customers. The project manager will have direct involvement from pre-order through to final account and warranty period. This is an opportunity to join a growing diverse team within an expanding sector of the fire industry. Current and forthcoming projects cover public and private sectors; including custodial, healthcare, hotels, retail and residential; and range in value from 10k to 5M. Responsibilities To expertly handle sprinkler or water mist installation contracts from initial enquiry through to final accounts. Assume full financial control of projects, delivering the works efficiently and profitably, including responsibility for raising purchase and subcontract orders. Effectively manage the installation work on site; attending regular client meetings; having responsibility for health and safety; producing progress updates and reports; and completion of project quality assurance checks. Prepare and communicate detailed programmes of work to ensure deadlines and contract requirements are met. Liaise with suppliers, design, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery and information flow, and accurately report to clients, contractors and governing bodies as necessary. Negotiate, monitor, and produce quotations for contract variations. Highlight possible problem areas at the earliest opportunity and obtain commercial advice where necessary. Prepare technical reports and submittals including operating and maintenance manuals and handover documents, by collating and presenting relevant information. Identify and report deviations or nonconformities from scope, Standards or contract. Ability to travel within the UK, and visit European suppliers as necessary for the role. Protec Fire Detection have a requirement for a Small Works Engineer in the North West region. You will be required to work on the supply, fit and commission of Fire Alarm and associated equipment. You will be responsible for the installation of new systems as well as additions to existing systems installed by Protec Fire Detection and others Candidates must have a high degree of reliability, self motivation and an ability to work independently and provide solutions on site. Candidates must be organised and able to submit the required paperwork in a timely manner. Minimum forty hour working week with overtime. Travel time is paid as well as travel expenses. There will be a requirement for some driving, for which a valid driving licence is essential. Good prospects for career progression are based on the individuals ability and the company policy is to promote from within. Salary dependant on previous experience.
