Lead a national service that makes a real difference to veterans in the justice system. Care after Combat supports veterans in custody and in the community, helping them access practical, consistent and person-centred support. Through Project Phoenix and our contribution to Op NOVA, we work with partners across England to improve outcomes and help veterans move forward. We're looking for an experienced Operations Manager to lead Care after Combat's operational delivery of Op NOVA. This is a senior role with real influence: you'll lead a dispersed operational team, strengthen performance and quality, and make sure our service remains effective, consistent and focused on the people we support. What you'll be working on Leading Care after Combat's operational delivery of the Op NOVA subcontract. Line-managing the Deputy Operations Manager and providing senior leadership to the wider operational team. Monitoring service performance, quality and outcomes and using data to drive improvement. Supporting effective supervision, performance management and development of operational staff. Identifying and managing operational risks and escalating issues where appropriate. Producing clear reports for senior management, Trustees and external partners. Building effective relationships with the Forces Employment Charity, NHS England, HMPPS and other statutory and third-sector partners. Supporting the effective deployment of people and operational resources. Contributing to the Senior Management Team and representing Care after Combat externally. This job is for you if You're an experienced operational leader who can combine strategic oversight with practical, hands-on management. You have experience leading and developing people, ideally across dispersed or remote teams. You understand high-quality service delivery, casework or person-centred support. You're confident using performance information and data to improve services. You can build trusted relationships with a wide range of partners and stakeholders. You communicate clearly and can produce strong written reports and presentations. You have sound judgement and can manage competing priorities, risk and resource pressures. You understand the justice system in England and have empathy with veterans and the Armed Forces community. Experience in the charity sector, veterans' services, justice services, commissioned services or contract delivery would be useful, as would experience of Salesforce, Outcomes Star or similar systems. We're interested in transferable experience too, so please don't be put off if you don't meet every desirable criterion. Key details Location: Newark, Nottinghamshire, with hybrid working and national travel. Regular attendance at our Newark HQ is required. Hours: 37.5 Salary: £42,000 Contract: Permanent Annual leave/benefits: 25 days plus Bank Holidays and your birthday Driving: A full driving licence and access to a vehicle are required.
