Overview The Autobody Shop Manager for a collision center is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the autobody repair process within the collision center. This role requires a combination of technical expertise in autobody repair, managerial skills, and customer service acumen. The manager ensures that repairs are completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards while maintaining excellent customer satisfaction levels. Responsibilities Team Management Supervise and lead a team of autobody technicians, painters, estimators, and administrative staff. Provide guidance, training, and support to staff members to ensure they perform their duties effectively. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages teamwork and professional growth. Workflow Management Coordinate and schedule repair jobs to optimize workflow and ensure timely completion of repairs. Allocate resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, based on workload and priorities. Monitor progress on repair jobs and address any delays or issues that may arise to keep projects on track. Quality Control Implement and enforce quality control procedures to ensure that all repairs meet industry standards and customer expectations. Conduct regular inspections of completed repairs to verify quality and identify any deficiencies that need to be addressed. Work closely with technicians to resolve technical challenges and provide guidance on best practices. Customer Service Interact with customers to understand their repair needs, provide accurate estimates, and address any concerns or questions they may have. Maintain open lines of communication with customers throughout the repair process, keeping them informed of progress and any changes to the timeline or scope of work. Handle customer complaints or issues in a professional and timely manner, striving to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction. Inventory and Supply Management Manage inventory levels of parts, materials, and supplies necessary for autobody repairs. Establish relationships with suppliers and negotiate pricing agreements to ensure cost-effective procurement of materials. Monitor inventory levels and reorder supplies as needed to prevent disruptions to workflow. Safety and Compliance Enforce safety protocols and ensure that all staff members adhere to safety regulations and best practices. Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and advancements in autobody repair techniques and equipment. Ensure that the collision center operates in compliance with relevant environmental, health, and safety standards. Financial Management Develop and manage budgets for the collision center, including operating expenses, labor costs, and capital expenditures. Monitor financial performance and implement cost-control measures to optimize profitability. Analyze financial reports and key performance indicators to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to increase efficiency and revenue. Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in automotive technology, business management, or a related field. Previous experience in autobody repair, preferably in a managerial or supervisory role within a collision center. Strong technical knowledge of autobody repair techniques, materials, and equipment. Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members. Superior customer service skills, with a focus on building positive relationships and exceeding customer expectations. Proficiency in computerized estimating systems and other relevant software applications. Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail. Summary The Collision Field Operations Manager - Ontario is the primary point of contact for CSN Licensees within their designated region. The position reports directly to the FOM-Team Lead and will work with other FOMs and FTAs in Ontario. The FOM will help licensees grow and perform by working with other departments within CSN to help licensees improve their business operations by leveraging the CSN System, which includes (i) partnerships with insurers, OEMs and vendors, (ii) local and digital marketing tools and (iii) operational support tools. Primary Objectives of the Field Operations Manager Primary point of contact for CSN Licensees in the designated Ontario region. Understand store needs and work with the FOM-Team Lead, or other departments within CSN when necessary, to ensure that these needs are met. Meet with each store on a quarterly basis to ensure that the store is getting the most out of the CSN System; topics include: overall business growth and performance, performance on insurance programs, utilization of vendors, marketing programs, software, training, and other components of the CSN System, new CSN initiatives, review of outstanding issues, and identification of strategic action items with timing. Lead virtual and in-person regional meetings, up to three times per year, and assist with the CSN annual conference. Work with the FOM-Team Lead to identify strategies to help licensees maximize the CSN System. Collaborate with other CSN teams to execute strategies and suggest additions or changes to the CSN System. Resolve store concerns and high-urgency issues originating from CSN corporate teams, providing clear direction in a timely manner. Escalate complex case management issues to the FOM-Team Lead when necessary and assist the FTA with case management and file auditing when needed. Build and support licensee training; develop content and record micro trainings. Report progress and activity to the FOM-Team Lead monthly, including: cases and action items older than 30 days, challenges engaging with stores, and KPI performance against targets. Qualifications: Education and Technical skills Minimum 5 years of management experience in the autobody collision repair industry. Post-secondary or Trade School education with a focus in business or field related to the collision repair industry (asset). Minimum 3 years' estimating experience on Canadian industry estimating systems (Audatex & Mitchell). Minimum 3 years' experience with OEM procedural lookup as it applies to estimating. Must always have a valid driver's license. Travel requirements While this role is remote, travel will be required to meet with stores in Ontario, attend industry events, and attend training meetings. In-person meetings with CSN Licensees are expected to represent 50% of the employee's time, with 20-30 days per year requiring overnights. The successful candidate will be required to work from a home office and have access to a personal vehicle (a vehicle allowance will be provided to cover use, maintenance and insurance).
