Providing safe passage for boaters through the lock Operating the Locks Used to working outdoors in any weather. Some lifting Customer Service skills - Good Face to Face communication skills Ideally own Car. About the Team: Our River Thames operations encompass 45 lock and weir complexes, with the primary aim of providing a first-class service to our customers. As a Lock and Weir Keeper, you will work alongside a dedicated team of Lock and Weir Keepers and Technical staff, reporting to the Team Leader and providing support to other teams.

Presentation of data in tabular or graphical formats for compilation in reports or papers. Various supporting tasks to maintain laboratory testing activities. Working to ISO17025. This role is centred around the River Habitat Survey technique. River Habitat Survey (RHS) is the Environment Agency's method of capturing data on the physical structure of rivers and the habitats they support. We are looking for a member of the team to support the planning and delivery of our in-house training in the technique. This role will focus on the RHS method, but may also cover other types of ecology monitoring as required. You will be an enthusiastic and motivated individual with freshwater ecology experience. In this role you will: support our specialists in preparing and running training courses for Environment Agency surveyors, and for surveyors from consultancies and other Defra organisations. support the management of the ecology monitoring programme. enter and validate habitat survey results from field surveyors. help to track and assure the programme's delivery, helping to spot and fix issues with the programme or its delivery. You would be part of the Monitoring Team who support the delivery of the full range of monitoring programmes and activities, covering; habitat, fish and plant surveys, invertebrates and water quality in all water categories (rivers, lakes, estuaries, coasts and groundwater). Experience/skills required Proven knowledge of the RHS method. Data management skills so as to maintain the RHS dataset. Ability to build and maintain strong relationships across the RHS community, to ensure that our monitoring and assessment requirements are completed efficiently and on time. Key Responsibilities: Manage industry responses to our upcoming Access Charges consultation, providing insight into how to address any concerns / queries and supporting in writing our conclusions to this consultation. Undertaking detailed recalibration work for our Access Charges, which will involve getting to grips with our already-existing charges model and updating these for our conclusions and changes in inputs. Undertaking impact analysis, for example of the changes to Access Charges, to understand the root of any changes and the impact that this may have on our customers. Drafting briefing notes to senior colleagues and external stakeholders to explain any changes in the levels of our Access Charges for CP7. Support the team in managing Network Rail's involvement with the recalibration of the performance and possessions (incentives) regime, as and when required. Engaging with colleagues in the Great British Railways Transition Team (GBRTT) as they seek to establish a charging framework and incentive regimes for their future contracts with their operators.
