Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Legal Counsel to join our growing Legal team, based in the UK, Ireland, or Norway. The ideal candidate will possess 7+ years of post qualification experience, with strong expertise in privacy/data protection, marketing and consumer protection law, and fintech product development. Prior experience in the FinTech or financial services sector is a strong plus. You are self driven, reliable, proactive, data minded, and able to take ownership, providing clear, pragmatic legal advice that enables innovation while managing risk. English will be your working language. Responsibilities Legal Advisory: Provide expert, business oriented legal advice to internal stakeholders on privacy, marketing, fintech product, and regulatory matters. Regulatory Compliance: Monitor UK, EU, and international legal developments in data protection, marketing, payments, and fintech regulation. Ensure company practices remain compliant while enabling business growth. Privacy & Data Protection: Advise on GDPR, ePrivacy, cross border data transfers, user consent, marketing communications, and product design compliance. Contract Drafting & Negotiation: Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including product, vendor, data processing, and marketing related contracts. Product Development: Partner closely with product, engineering, and marketing teams to enable compliant product launches and features. Risk Management: Identify risks early and implement scalable, proactive solutions. Develop templates, playbooks, and policies to enhance efficiency. Stakeholder Collaboration: Work effectively with senior leadership, compliance, external counsel, and regulators to safeguard the company's legal and regulatory position. Requirements Qualified lawyer with 7+ years PQE. Significant experience in privacy/data protection (GDPR essential). Strong expertise in marketing and consumer protection law. FinTech/financial services experience (payments, e money, banking, or related) strongly preferred. Admitted to practice in the UK, Ireland, or Norway. English fluency required; additional European languages are a plus. Demonstrated ability to work independently with ownership and accountability. As a Legal Counsel, you will play a pivotal role in providing comprehensive legal support, particularly focusing on privacy regulations and matters related to international corporations and contracts. Responsibilities Legal Advisory: Offer expert legal advice and guidance to internal stakeholders on various legal matters, particularly those related to the FinTech industry, Privacy laws, and international corporate activities. Regulatory Compliance: Monitor and stay up-to-date with relevant legal and regulatory developments in African countries, ensuring the company's compliance with local laws and regulations in the FinTech sector.
