Job Title: Mechanical Supervisor Power Generation Project Location: Leeds, UK Contract Type: Contract - 3 - 6 month contract Discipline: Mechanical (Boiler & Piping) - Snagging Reports To: Site Manager / Mechanical Superintendent Rate: £400.00 - £450.00 per day including Hol Pay - PAYE Overview We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Supervisor to oversee mechanical installation works on a power generation project in Leeds. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising site activities related to boiler installation, piping systems, mechanical completion, and snagging, ensuring all work is delivered safely, on schedule, and in line with project specifications and quality standards. Key Responsibilities Supervise and coordinate all mechanical site activities, including installation, testing, and commissioning of boilers, pipework, valves, supports, and associated equipment. Ensure mechanical works are carried out in accordance with engineering drawings, technical specifications, and quality standards (ISO/BS codes). Lead and manage a team of mechanical fitters, pipefitters, and welders, ensuring productivity and compliance with safety protocols. Oversee and monitor boiler erection and auxiliary equipment installation (pressure parts, ducts, burners, feedwater systems, etc.). Manage piping fabrication and installation, including alignment, hydrotesting, flushing, and reinstatement. Carry out snagging, punch listing, and mechanical completion activities, ensuring timely close-out of outstanding items prior to handover. Liaise with QA/QC personnel to ensure all mechanical works are properly inspected, documented, and signed off. Interface with project engineering, planning, and HSE teams to align mechanical activities with the overall construction schedule. Enforce adherence to HSE policies, conducting toolbox talks and ensuring safe working practices are maintained. Assist with reviewing technical documents and resolving site-based mechanical issues as they arise. Requirements Recognised mechanical engineering qualification (HNC / HND / NVQ Level 3 or higher). Proven experience as a Mechanical Supervisor on power generation, energy-from-waste, CHP, or large industrial projects. Strong understanding of boiler systems, piping fabrication/installation, pressure testing, and mechanical completion processes. Excellent knowledge of permit-to-work systems, method statements, and risk assessments. Strong leadership, communication, and coordination skills. Competent in reading and interpreting P&IDs, isometrics, and general arrangement drawings. CSCS / SSSTS / SMSTS certification preferred. Valid UK right to work. Desirable Experience working on EPC or large-scale industrial construction sites. Familiarity with QA/QC documentation systems (ITPs, weld logs, test packs, etc.). Experience with snagging and handover systems (e.g., GoCompletions, MCPlus, or similar).
