Perlego Ltd.
About Perlego Perlego is on a mission to make education accessible to everyone. Learners worldwide struggle to afford and access the books they need to succeed. Dubbed "The Spotify for Textbooks," Perlego gives learners unlimited access to our catalogue of 1.5 million ebooks from over 9,000 of the world's leading publishers. We partner with 300+ universities, companies, and training providers to put a library in every learner's pocket and we are only getting started. We're in an exciting stage of growth across the business, with 40% growth in B2B last year. We're looking for a seasoned sales professional to take our sales function to the next level globally. What we're looking for We're looking for a Finance and Analytics Manager who is as comfortable producing a clean set of management accounts as they are querying a dataset or building a RevOps dashboard. This is a genuinely cross functional role - roughly split 60% Finance and 40% across our RevOps and Data functions - and it's ideal for someone who wants breadth without losing their technical accounting roots. You'll sit in the Finance team, reporting directly to the Head of Finance, with a Management Accountant underneath you handling day to day postings, payment runs and ledger BAU. That means your focus is on producing high quality month end reporting and spending the rest of your time on projects: improving financial processes, supporting RevOps, and working with our Data team. You won't be doing everything from scratch - we have a strong team around you - but you will be expected to review, challenge, and improve what's already in place, whilst bringing your own analytical lens to the commercial side of the business. Ideally you'll be comfortable dealing with ambiguity, have a strong accounting foundation, and genuinely enjoy turning data into decisions. You'll thrive here if you're a confident self starter who can own things end to end and hold the team to a high standard. How we work together The Finance team consists of a Head of Finance, this role (Finance and Analytics Manager), and a Management Accountant who handles BAU posting, payment runs and ledger maintenance. You'll be the layer between the Management Accountant's outputs and the Head of Finance's reporting - responsible for the quality and accuracy of what goes upward, and for driving the project work that goes sideways across the business. Collaboration: you'll work closely with the Head of Finance and Management Accountant within Finance, and with cross functional leads in RevOps and Data on project work. Communication: you'll regularly translate financial outputs and data analysis into clear narratives for senior leadership and department heads. Innovation: we will both encourage and expect you to identify and drive process improvements - from how we close the books to how we track commercial performance. What you'll do Month end reporting & financial control Own the month end close - ensuring journals, reconciliations and postings are accurate and complete, with insightful management accounts and variance commentary ready on time. Maintain a high standard of ledger integrity in Xero, reviewing coding and treatment across the business and resolving issues as they arise. Take ownership of key technical accounting areas: accruals, prepayments, payroll journals and balance sheet reconciliations. Oversee AP and payment processes, including royalty schedules - making sure things run cleanly and on schedule. Support regulatory and compliance obligations: VAT returns, corporation tax inputs, R&D claims, share based payment accounting and intercompany positions. Support year end close and audit preparation, working alongside the Head of Finance and external auditors. Financial planning & analysis Feed into the budgeting and reforecasting cycles - building and maintaining the supporting models, schedules and workings that underpin the plan. Develop and maintain KPI and metric reporting, ensuring consistency across B2B and DTC revenue streams. Contribute to board and leadership reporting with clear financial analysis and commentary. Proactively surface trends, risks and opportunities in the numbers before they become surprises. Project work: RevOps, Data & process improvement ( 40% of role) Partner with the RevOps function to build and maintain dashboards and reports tracking revenue performance, pipeline health, and commercial metrics. Work with the Data team to extract, clean, and analyse datasets - translating raw data into clear financial and commercial insight. Support subscriber metrics, cohort analysis and attribution modelling relevant to our subscription business. Identify and lead initiatives to automate or improve finance and reporting processes - from close workflows to data pipelines between Stripe, HubSpot and Xero. Act as a finance literate partner to non finance stakeholders who need data to make decisions quickly. It's the perfect role for you if you are: A confident self starter who can operate with autonomy - you know what good looks like and can hold yourself and others to that standard. Fully qualified or part qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), with solid hands on experience in management accounting and month end close. Analytically strong with a genuine appetite for data - comfortable working with large datasets, BI tools, or SQL, and not just pulling pre built reports. An experienced reviewer and improver of financial processes - you've seen what good looks like and know how to get there. Comfortable managing a direct report and holding them accountable for the quality of BAU outputs. An excellent communicator - able to translate complex financial and data outputs into clear narratives for non finance audiences. Comfortable prioritising across a mixed workload of close responsibilities and project work, without one crowding out the other. Highly proficient with Excel or Google Sheets; familiar with Xero or a similar cloud accounting platform. What success looks like In 3 months You've taken clear ownership of the month end close and management accounts are landing on time, accurately, and with minimal rework. You have a solid understanding of Perlego's financial operations, key business drivers, and how Finance interacts with the rest of the business. You've built a strong working rhythm with the Management Accountant and have a clear view of what needs improving. You've identified at least one process or data flow opportunity and have a plan to address it. In 6 months You've made meaningful improvements to the close process - less manual effort, better output quality, tighter timelines. You're actively contributing to financial models and forecasting, taking work off the Head of Finance's plate on the build side. Cross functional partners in RevOps and Data are pulling you in proactively - you're a trusted resource outside of Finance. You've delivered at least one end to end project that has measurably improved a financial process, reporting output, or commercial data flow. The salary for this role is from £65,000 per year. Benefits Flexible hybrid working environment; we like to see you in the office twice a week. L&D budget. We value continuous learning and you will have a personal L&D budget for online courses, subscriptions, or books not on Perlego. Learning Time. All employees have dedicated Learning Time to focus on new skills, projects, or interests outside their day to day role, including Hackathons. Work Life Balance. 22 days annual leave + 1 additional day per year of service. Office Reset. The days between Boxing Day and New Year off, additional to annual leave. Flexi Bank Holidays. Flexibility to swap local bank holidays for religious or cultural days. Work from overseas. Flexible short period remote working overseas, as long as you remain a UK tax resident. Sabbatical. 1 month unpaid sabbatical after 3 years; 1 month paid sabbatical after 5 years. Personal Days. 1 additional day per year for life events. Health & Wellbeing. Private medical, optical and dental insurance via Vitality. Cycle to Work Scheme. Social. Regular social events and activities for everyone. Family time. Competitive matched parental leave and phased return to work. We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity of thought and background. We are actively building a diverse team, so we strongly encourage applications from people of colour, the LGBTQ+ community, people with disabilities, neuro divergent people, parents, carers, and people from lower socio economic backgrounds. If you have any specific requirements for any stage of the interview process, please let us know.
