We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Section 73 Officer, Director of Finance, Investments and Commercial to join the West of England Combined Authority. About the Role As the Director of Finance, Investments and Commercial, you will take on a crucial role in shaping and leading the financial and commercial strategies that underpin the Authority's objectives. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, you will act as the statutory S73 officer, ensuring robust financial governance, commercial success, and the delivery of high-quality services. You will be a key driver of strategic investments and work closely with senior stakeholders to influence and implement impactful financial strategies that support the growth and prosperity of the region. Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership: Develop and lead the Authority's financial strategy, ensuring alignment with long-term goals and fostering collaboration across teams. Financial Oversight: Oversee financial governance, risk management, and compliance with statutory regulations while ensuring value for money and effective resource allocation. Investment & Commercial Strategy: Lead the development and execution of commercial and investment strategies, driving income generation and growth opportunities. Grant Management: Ensure effective oversight of grant-funded programmes, ensuring compliance and delivering impactful results. Team Leadership: Inspire and lead a high-performing, multidisciplinary team, fostering a culture of excellence, inclusivity, and innovation. What You Will Bring Experience: Significant experience at board level, providing strategic advice on finance, investments, and commercial matters in complex environments. Leadership: Proven track record of leading teams through transformation, inspiring excellence and collaboration. Strategic Thinking: Ability to align financial strategies with the Authority's long-term objectives, driving positive outcomes. Financial Expertise: In-depth knowledge of financial management, investment strategies, and governance in the public sector.
