Purpose of the role Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Plant Supervisor is responsible for the overall control of the site. Main duties include the use of computer based systems for batching and despatch of concrete, talking to customers both face to face and on the phone, carrying out routine maintenance, supervising contractors and hauliers to ensure the safe and efficient running of this site in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act and Environmental Legislation. Other key responsibilities include, ensuring that concrete produced, is compliant with our quality scheme and housekeeping standards at the site are maintained. To constantly seek to improve existing performance levels, and to identify and then pursue opportunities for further business operational efficiencies and growth. The definition of the geographical area and sites included within it may be subject to change as business requirements dictate. Key Accountabilities The main activity of the role involves leading, directing and managing the operational line management team in order for the UK to achieve its performance objectives. The performance emphasis for each of the core areas includes: Health and Safety: Operating to the highest level of health and safety objectives in line with Heidelberg Materials Health and Safety Plan. Action and deliver a plan of continuous improvement in this area. Environmental: Operating to the highest level of environmental objectives in line with Heidelberg Materials Environmental Management Plan.
