The Role We are currently looking for a Consultant Ecologist to join our Ecology team within the Water Practice at our Bristol office. Key responsibilities Provide technical, administrative or professional support to winning & executing projects. Gather relevant information. Solve problems, make decisions independently within own area of responsibility, or in conjunction with other team members or more senior colleagues. Undertake tasks on projects/bids and begins to manage tasks where appropriate. Develop client relationships at operational level on projects and tasks. Key competencies and experience A degree in a relevant subject, such as ecology or other biological sciences. Demonstrable relevant work experience. Graduate or Associate membership of CIEEM. Basic knowledge of UK and EU Wildlife Legislation, planning policies, licensing requirements and best practice survey techniques. Capable of leading surveys and writing reports for Preliminary Ecological Assessments (PEA), Habitat Condition Assessments (HCA) and Protected species surveys. Skills and Behaviour Communicates information clearly and accurately. An understanding of undertaking surveys safely and to the right quality standard. Good team working skills are essential. Plans, organises and reviews activities effectively and efficiently in order to meet defined expectations. Be organised with proven ability to multi - task and handle several projects simultaneously. Experience of project management and/or preparation of ecology proposals and tenders. Broad ecological survey experience with demonstrable proficiency in particular protected species surveys and/or habitat surveys and providing mitigation recommendations. Experience of planning and conducting ecological surveys, including habitat survey and protected species surveys and providing mitigation recommendations. Ideally at least one protected species survey licence. Experience of working on large scale infrastructure of development projects. Experience of Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW). This role is Ideal for an experienced machine shop engineer or shop floor programmer who wishes a move to explore greater opportunities Responsibilities Create manufacturing process and machining times to achieve the design specification, ensuring the most cost effective approach. Develop and implement, through a hands on approach, manufacturing processes to efficiently machine components, continually looking to reduce the costs. Specification/design of tooling, fixturing and equipment to support manufacturing processes, including its procurement, commissioning, and implementation. Provide cutting data to ensure optimum performance and realisation of estimated times. Support all team members to ensure the realisation of the quoted manufacturing times. Work with the production and engineering teams to reduce the 'Cost of Poor Quality.' Liaison with the design authority to ensure correct understanding of intent and process requirements. Support shop floor with issue resolution. Create routings for newly issued parts. Have a proven background working in a machine shop with extensive knowledge of tools, equipment and processes for milling and turning. Hands on approach to problem solving and cost reduction. Working in a formal Quality framework. Good PC skills and Business System experience. Preferred Experience of working in a production environment for a precision, low volume customer base Automotive or similar industry experience. Gear form manufacturing knowledge/experience. You will be responsible for the preparation and build of gearboxes and axles for low volume, high value driveline systems for a variety of customers. Knowledge and experience required Good mechanical assembly and/or test skills. The ability to prioritise tasks, organise work, and make sound decisions. Navigate basic systems and processes while undertaking a range of tasks. Knowledge of quality standards, equipment management and maintenance. Problem solving skills and the awareness to elevate larger problems. Support investigations and contributes ideas for continuous improvement. Minimum GCSE in Mathematics and English (Grade C or above). Likely to have served a traditional apprenticeship or have relevant experience. Assembly and / or end of line test experience of mechanical and hydraulic systems. Ability to use measurement equipment such as vernier, micrometer etc. Intermediate level of PC and general computer skills - good working knowledge of MS office. Good organisational skills. Is self motivated and proactive. Awareness of automotive quality control processes Accountability Manages time effectively and prioritises tasks to meet set deadlines.
