Tuza
What we do At Tuza, we've raised $7m from leading investors (Northzone, Connect Venture) to build the exchange for payments . We build technology to connect thousands of small businesses to financial service providers (Worldpay, Barclaycard, Revolut) in a way that is quicker, easier and fairer. Your role at Tuza As our first data hire, you'll be tasked with designing, building and owning our data stack. You'll also be responsible for applying your expertise in quantitative analysis to understand how our users behave. Your insights will feed into data products that you'll own, as well as into our wider product strategy. In your first month, you could explore: Transaction data to recognise tendency, temporal or spatial patterns. Mine KYC and KYB signals from structured and unstructured data to inform onboarding, pricing, and underwriting decisions. Build risk insights by combining onboarding data with in-life behaviour to detect anomalies and automate interventions. Design dynamic pricing models that personalise payment pricing based on business usage, risk, and segment. Launch product recommendation logic that serves merchants contextual bundles at the right moment in their lifecycle. Benchmark provider performance to show which of our partners are outperforming across time to board, churn, and margin. Create intelligent and personalised user experiences based on customer context to increase business-product fit and reduce time to conversion. By the end of your first sprint, you will likely have built at least one data project live in production, in use by some of the UK's largest banks and 1000s of their small business customers. You'll report directly to Tuza's CEO and CTO and work alongside a team of ex-founders and founding employees. You're a great fit if You have a solid knowledge of data science. You work end-to-end - you can design, engineer and maintain our data stack. You've had exposure to a previous high-performance environment - this may be another startup backed by tier 1 investors, but it could just as easily be a competitive hobby. You know what good engineering practices look like - we need you to work with our engineering team to integrate your insights into our products. You find the extensive breadth and ambiguous nature of this role inspiring. You're a bad fit if You lack genuine interest in the data - we want you to be obsessed. You're unopinionated on what you work on - we want you to care. You're not interested in the commercial context or wider business strategy. The Interview Process There are three stages: Initial Call with our CTO Take-Home Technical Assessment Technical Workshop Our aim is to get candidates through the application process from start to finish within 2 weeks of applying. Tuza
Thanks for considering this role. On this page we've got three quick things: Tuza is building an exchange for payment pricing to give businesses access to the most competitive rates for their payment terminals. Changing payment providers is broken: a cornershop turning over £300k a year could save £5k+ a year by changing payment provider, but they don't. For businesses, it's lengthy, lacks transparency, and often costly to switch. For providers, finding customers and helping them switch is manual and old-fashioned. It's an industry crying out for change. Tuza turns a week-long switching process into minutes, giving business owners their pick of the best rates from the likes of Worldpay, Barclaycard, and Natwest, saving them thousands of pounds a year in the process. All at zero cost for the business owner. And the really exciting part? Later in 2024, we're launching our own card machine. It'll be the first card machine where you can change bank, without changing device. We're bringing the unlocked phone-moment to card payments. With Tuza, you'll never need to feel the pain of switching again. We've raised £5.5m+ (shh not public yet) from exceptional fintech investors, including Northzone (original backers of Zettle, Trustpilot, Klarna) and Connect (first investor into Typeform, Citymapper). Angels are from Apple, Stripe, Visa, Wise etc. Square, Sumup and Zettle have been hitting small businesses for years, but struggled to break into the 1m+ retailers who do £200k to £10m in annual card turnover. It's this group that have been neglected by the banks, and we're excited for you to help us transform their experience with payments. Join as our Head of Sales Help us build the ultimate ISO. As the Head of Sales, you will be responsible for leading and driving our sales strategy to achieve revenue targets and expand our market presence. You will develop and grow a team of sales professionals, develop key client relationships, and identify new business opportunities. Responsibilities: Develop Sales Strategy: Formulate and execute a comprehensive sales strategy to achieve revenue goals and drive business growth in the payment industry. Team Leadership: Lead, motivate, and mentor a team of sales professionals to achieve individual and team targets. Provide guidance, support, and training as necessary to optimize performance.
