24 Month Fixed Term Apprenticeship Sunderland City Council has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join the ICT Service as a Cyber Security Apprentice. Working as part of the information security team you will develop an understanding of Sunderland City Council's approach to cyber security and the critical role this plays supporting its strategic goals. We're looking for a Systems Infrastructure & Data Centre Manager IT Services operates at the core of the Council's operations, working with services and stakeholders to empower employees to deliver the Council priorities through technology. We're seeking a pragmatic and driven IT Security Lead to ensure secure and compliant IT systems are implemented and maintained throughout the organisation. This is a key role in our IT team, providing the technical support and know-how to assess, investigate, and remedy security vulnerabilities and incidents, managing security remediation activity, internally and with 3rd parties. Ownership of the incident response process is essential. Key responsibilities include: Drafting IT security policies and procedures. Creating and controlling the IT risk register and identifying risk owners for internal/external and 3rd parties. Developing, reviewing, and implementing security tooling to enable policy enforcement. The primary responsibility of this cyber role is to review third party suppliers and products, such as SAAS applications. This role will also include occasional involvement in the review of IT systems, services, and applications developed or purchased by the department, identifying any security issues, design flaws, and making security recommendations in line with industry security best practices and the HMG Security Policy Framework. Supported by our technical teams, architects, and engineers, you will provide high-quality cyber security advice and guidance across all matters relating to proposed digital services, applications, and suppliers. As a Cyber Assurance Risk Advisor, you'll: Analyse security requirements, taking account of both internal and external guidance, policy, and regulations. Assist with developing and promoting information security policies to achieve security outcomes within a defined scope and in line with cross-government policies and the new GovAssure service. Assist with designing and implementing security awareness campaigns. Be part of the assurance process, identifying security threats, vulnerabilities, and hazards to the department's suppliers, systems, services, or processes to inform risk assessments and design of security features. Use your increasing knowledge and expertise in assurance to make decisions on the levels of risk the Department is being exposed to and recommendations of how to remediate these within particular systems, suppliers, applications, or services. Support and conduct cyber security risk assessments, cyber security audits, and cyber security incident management. Support cyber security operations processes in accordance with organisational policies and standards and business requirements.
