Overview LTi Metaltech specialises in the precision fabrication and welding of high-performance vessels and structures for use in demanding industrial applications, from cryogenic pressure vessels to high tech industrial furnaces, and nuclear waste containers. We have an opportunity for a Senior Quality Engineer to join our Quality Department on a temporary basis to lead the implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of rigorous quality processes. Responsibilities Achieve consistent on-time delivery of 'A' grade products. Ensure products and processes comply with the requirements of the Quality Management System and relevant standards, including applicable regulatory requirements. Collaborate with the Production and Materials teams to ensure non-compliant or defective parts are excluded from the build process and compliant disposition is agreed upon. Lead the internal, external, and supplier auditing programme, conducting/attending audits and supporting the internal auditing team as required. Liaise with customers and suppliers to troubleshoot problems. Manage investigations and support the timely resolution of Customer, Supplier, and internal non-conformances. Support Engineering, Production, and Purchasing to ensure products have full traceability and conformance documentation throughout the manufacturing process and upon delivery to the customer. Support the NPI process by managing quality assurance projects to ensure quality is inbuilt at project development stages. Promote the company values and the importance of quality assurance and compliance at every business level. Attend QA review meetings to report on QA status. Attend production meetings, communicating issues and information to Production and QA accordingly. Provide a proactive contribution to Lean, Right First Time, Progressive Continuous Improvement, and business development programmes. Provide guidance and support to other team members. Deputise for the QHSER Manager. Carry out specific Quality-related investigations and any other tasks that may be requested. To act as a key interface within a Project Team, driving nuclear safety culture and 'right first time' delivery throughout a programme. KEY TASKS NPI & APQP Leadership: Lead the internal cross-functional team through the full APQP lifecycle ensuring all deliverables, from Feasibility Reviews to Volume Production are met on schedule. PPAP Management: Compile, review, and submit comprehensive Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) files (typically Level 3 submissions), ensuring all evidence (including Part Submission Warrants, Control Plans, and Process Flow Diagrams) meets customer specifications before volume manufacturing commences. Non-Conformance & Root Cause Resolution: Manage investigations and support the timely resolution of Customer, Supplier, and internal non-conformances. Champion Root Cause Analysis to ensure containment (within 24 hours) and implement robust corrective/preventative actions to prevent recurrence. Auditing & Oversight: Lead the internal, external, and supplier auditing programme. Conduct specific oversight of Special Processes (e.g., Welding, NDE) and conduct Launch Readiness Reviews (LRR) to verify supply chain capability.
