Commercial Gas Installation Engineer Reports to: Project Manager OTE: 75k - 90k Role Overview The Commercial Gas Installation Engineer is responsible for delivering safe, compliant, and high-quality installation of commercial gas systems across HVAC and building services projects throughout the UK. The Commercial Gas Installation Engineer ensures all installations are completed to specification, on time, and in line with current regulations, supporting successful project delivery and client handover. Key Responsibilities The Commercial Gas Installation Engineer will: Install, test, and commission commercial gas appliances, boilers, heaters, pipework, meters, and associated controls. Ensure all work complies with Gas Safety Regulations, IGEM standards, and Building Regulations. Carry out pressure testing, purging, and commissioning, maintaining accurate certification and records. Interpret mechanical drawings and follow project specifications. Work closely with the Project Manager and site teams to deliver coordinated installations. Identify and escalate design or installation issues. Follow method statements, risk assessments, and permit systems to maintain safe working practices. Use digital systems to complete job records and certification. Support snagging, handover activities, and mentor junior engineers where appropriate. Comply with all company procedures and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Knowledge & Experience The successful Commercial Gas Installation Engineer will have: Strong knowledge of commercial gas systems and safety requirements. Experience within commercial installation, projects, or FM environments. ACS Commercial Gas qualifications (e.g., COCN1, ICPN1, TPCP1A). Valid Gas Safe registration (or eligibility). CSCS/ECS card and relevant Health & Safety training. NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services (desirable). Full UK driving licence. Skills & Behaviours The Commercial Gas Installation Engineer will demonstrate high technical competence, strong fault-finding ability, clear communication skills, and effective time management. A proactive, safety-first approach and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively are essential for success in the role of Commercial Gas Installation Engineer.
